Oh ok fair enough, didn't hear sky sports say that and he looked fine when the camera went to him clapping team mates.

Still, don't Australia have big hitters to bring into the side? Surely there' s a keeper that hits big in List A Australia cricket? I don't follow Australia domestic cricket, but picking Paine seems dumb
There is; he played last night as a specialist batsman. I'm not what you'd call a huge fan of Carey's batting (gun keeper though), but at this point it's obvious Paine is only being picked because they want him to skipper. When Carey, whose keeping has always been batting than his batting, is being selected as a specialist bat we're basically crossed over into the the realm of the untenable for Paine.

Goes against the Aussie ethos when skipper is picked but can't hold his place in the side. Being rated the best Test 'keeper in the country is one thing, I don't really agree but I can see the case for it. Making him ODI skipper and 'keeper - why.

Is he skipper full time or just interim to get through the ****storm of sandpapergate?

If he is a long term choice for the ODI side then it like when England were picking Cook, decent player but nowhere near the level you need.

He was an interim wicketkeeper, but I dunno about the captaincy. Depends on when Mitch Marsh recovers, guarantee he gets given the gig as soon as Paine becomes untenable.

Exciting time for the England side with the Cricket World Cup round the corner. Got to think we are in with a good shout?
names on the trophy. Already started thinking about the twenty20 world cup in 2020... what a beautiful coincidence. Not sure the Aussie boundaries are long enough for the likes of Hales and Buttler.

This'll be good to dig when Virat Kohli's 140-odd leads India to victory.

desperate times for the Aussie-raaaalians when they're pinning their hopes on Indians to stop the Empire striking back.
Well we shall make a more informed decision in a few weeks time after the JAMODI series as to where the two teams stand.

And no, I'd prefer England to win over India but you are doing your utmost to change my mind.

I know they're much, much weaker without ABdV, but I really can't wait to see how SA still manage to get narrowly eliminated in some entertaining fashion.

he was only named OD captain for this tour.
Doesn't that only make it more **** that he was named skip then? Surely Finch is bleeding for the skippership and they could have picked someone actually able to contribute with the bat.

i certainly didn't understand why arun finch wasn't made captain for this tour. i know australia is damn opposed to different keepers for test and odi cricket unless they absolutely have to do it, but i thought common sense might apply

Yeah Finch not being the ODI/T20 captain doesn't make sense. Clear cut selection in the first XI especially without Warner and has experience.

That's something I never thought I'd say, Aaron Finch should be captain. Says a lot about what's happened to Australia recently.

It's a shame Aussies are the new ODI donkeys (English newspaper 2006). Even with their full strength side back home in January, the way they approached the selections and batting, you just knew they were going to lose.

It's the air of unseriousness that has been around the T20I team for years and now the ODI team that I find most galling. We know this isn't the best side we could be selecting even with Smith and Warner gone, yet they decide to not only to not strengthen the batting but try harebrained things like Finch at 6.

FYI....every fact and thought out opinion I deliver I am also speaking on behalf of Adders.

I wish everyone well this evening. Enjoy the football.
