Woke up to watch the football (we're losing) and off course checked the cricket score. Wow! Sounds like amazing hitting from Bairstow (and Stokes). Why didn't Mitchell get a bowl when everyone was smashed?
Never mind about Costa Rica, we were the only unbeaten team at the world cup in 2010, we can dine out on that for all time.

What's up with Southee? Only 1 wicket in his last 3 innings. Need a lot more than that from NZ's senior bowler.

A great start to the Stokes/McCullum era.

The BC’s don’t seem to be a very cohesive unit at the moment. Lots of questions hanging over the side: when and how often to use Ajaz, when to use Henry, is Wags fast nearing the end?, is Southee now waning markedly after a lengthy career, debuting way back in 2007/2008?, is Jamieson now going to be plagued by back injuries going forward?
If CDG comes back, how to fit everyone in now that Mitchell is seemingly a ‘must play’. Where does Bracewell fit in the scheme of things after performing well on debut? Does Ravindra come back into the mix after good form in 1st class cricket, and at whose expense?

Kane Williamsons struggles to get on the park are another key issue. It must be disconcerting to the side to have the erstwhile captain not playing more often than he is playing. Then there are the batting struggles of the stand-in captain Tom Latham whenever he plays quality opposition; where is the moral authority to lead when you are failing with the bat?

It’s a bit of an uncomfortable time the team are going through as some old stagers get close to the finish and others confront worrying questions around form and fitness.

Remember a few weeks ago when we were good enough to draw against Sussex 2nd 11? Those were good days. The high point of the tour.

NZ have lost 5 of their last 7 tests (and only 1 of those 7 tests were v a good team). But add in the tour matches nz have lost 6 of their last 9 red ball matches of any format.

Sort of remind me of the end of the Andy Flower England team, in the suddenness and speed of their plummet. Although that team had the excuse of a Mitchell Johnson catalyst finally prying open the cracks. NZ had theirs pried open at home by Ebadot and Sarel Erwee.

Massive win England, and fair play to them. That’s a chase which will change a lot about setting targets, probably not much of it any good from an entertainment pov. Huge result to wake up to.

NZ, hang thy heads. Conceding 300 in two sessions on day 5 of a test is terribad, nws being a bowler down. Basically ruined day 5 of test cricket now.

Looking forward to watching the highlights later on. Bairstow really coming on strong now in that middle order since last summer out here. Good on him.

It's not all total doom and gloom. Some very good stuff has come out of this battering. Some of the batsman have found some form.
Mitchell is looking fantastic.
Blundell looks to have hit good knick.
Conway has something under his belt.
Bracewell did well for his first crack.
Young has a feel for some runs.
Only Latham and Nicholls looking totally at sea.
The bowling was bad, but it was a flat deck, so all this can be turned around in the 3rd test.
The best of all that came for NZ, was that they should now realise it's time for some changes in management, time for a new era.
They could start off by trying to poach the English coach.
