Been some incredible matches this week.

How on earth did the referee miss the ball coming off Drinkwater's boot straight to an offside player.
Cleary should of been lining up a kick in front with a minute to go in regular time. It's not very often Ivan gets animated but he clearly saw it from the box.

I was more concerned with a couple of forward passes and missed knock ons and a bs penalty but yep this is the takeaway.
Speaking of bad refereeing that was a horrible performance from Belinda Sharpe in the Knights/Titans game.
I mean I’m all for female refs if they’re able to ref at that level, but you can’t have one just to have one. She’s been consistently poor from the games I’ve seen her in.

My apologies to Tiger's supporters.

What a ****ing shellacking! There must have been some A1 play from the Tiges to let Melbourne rack up 64.

Referees making mistakes is always going to happen, you can't really do anything about that. I don't think anyone is saying Smelford's cheating would have changed the result, just that he's deliberately cheating.

A bit of a storm in a teacup (although I know him personally so will tease him) but totally different to people making mistakes.

tbf the others can be explained away as casual mistakes but not the awful offside lol.

If you know him personally tell him to get me Cleary’s signature thanks.

Lomax back this week. Round 11 and he will play his first game with Moses at the club. If you want an insight into why we are going so badly, that is at least part of it. Shame Simonsen is injured, we could have had a decent full strength backline in this week.

Young Tuivati being out for an extended period seriously weakens already pretty poor middle forward stocks, especially with Hopgood still apparently not 100%, which explains his output so far this year. There are some big wraps on Toni Mataele who's daybooing this week in the back row off the bench. Kid is meant to be a jet. See how he goes.

nawaqanitawase is a freak of nature what a gun
deeply funny that the rooster had to shelve leniu until five to go because he’s a moron, played himself out of an origin jersey. we looked so impotent offensively in the first half but turned jets on again for the second

He is but still raw. Burton had him completely spooked in the second half trying to catch anything. Guess they lost a good player to union and gained a good player from union though.

Yeah took Marky Mark some time to find his feet in union via 7's, was just starting to really fly when he left, poor timing in a way, would of been one of the first picked for the Lions and World Cup.

I love a mercurial sportsperson. In any sport. Someone who isn’t always in the game but suddenly does outrageous things 99% of other players can’t is one of sport’s best things. That try was next level. Latrell Mitchell a similar sort of player. Glenn Maxwell in cricket too. Might have an error in him or go quiet but can just do freakish things.

Meanwhile, a season-defining win for the Juggernaut up the M1 at Fortress Newcastle. Lomax is a beast, and we actually have a fast backline now. If Penisini ever learns to pass we might actually score a ton of points. Shame Simonsen is out, he would round out a potent back five. Defensive structures have improved out of sight with a lot less rushing in, and the attitude was good as well. Bodes well for the post-Origin run to the finals.

I like a mix of these 2 teams for Origin 1

PXL_20250516_233919787.jpg

I'd have:

1. Edwards
2. Lomax
3. Mitchell
4. Crichton
5. Trbojevic (if fit)
6. Moses
7. Cleary
8. Haas
9. Robson
10. May
11. A. Crichton
12. Martin
13. Yeo

Bench: Watson; Leniu; Barnett; Young (probably)

Would love to go with the option on the left to allow Papi into the team, but I think it is a bit dangerous to have him as the backup hooker if Watson goes down. Granted, there'd probably be a reshuffle instead so he isn't in that role if that happened, but we'd still be short.

Would also be happy if Olakau'atu got a run after his role coming off the bench in a suit last year.
