Nick Name XI

Hurricane

Hall of Fame Member
As it sounds name an XI using only nicknames:

Rules nicknames can not be the person's name with a y on the end or an ie on the end. So Wrighty is out. Finally avoid finding any pages on the Internet that list out all Cricketers nicknames if you can.

You can try to name either:
1) A best possible XI
2) A 1980s XI
3) Your Country's eleven
4) A pre war XI

Or any other theme you can think of...

My entry a NZ XI

1) Rigor
2) Pinga
3) Skippy
4) Hogan
5) Paddy
6) Macca
7) Paddles
8) 6 Pack (Dipak Patel)
9) Wally (Warren Lees)
10) Dave (Jeetan Patel)
11) The NaeNae Express

Incidentally, John Wright's main nick was 'Shake' as opposed to 'Wrighty' IIRC

Wth? Tendulkar's main nick was 'The Little Master" wasn't it? The 'Master Blaster' belongs to Viv Richards

You can do a pretty handy Australian XI from the last couple of decades without too much thought. Only keepers are really hard to come up with unless you go back to Bacchus.

Tubby
Pro (or Alfie, or Swampy)
Punter
Junior
Tugger (c)
Boof (or Pup, or Mr Cricket)
Choc
Dizzy
Sarfraz (or Binga, or Pistol, or Casper, depending on conditions)
Funky
Pigeon

Watto
Kat (Had to sub for Hughesy due to poor nickname)
Son of Swampy
Punter
Pup
Mr Cricket
Hads
Spastic Sprayer (it's catching on)
P-Siddy
Copes
Willie (Cheated on this one but its a cracker!)

G.I.Joe

When?

Master Blaster is and always will be Viv.
Nah, get with the times.

indian_legend got a lot wrong anyway. It's meant to be a nickname xi, not an epithets xi. 'master blaster', 'mr.cricket', 'the wall' etc do not count unless thats what their team-mates routinely refer to them as.
Indian xi would be more like:

viru
gauti
jammy
sachin (i know, its sad)
laxman
yuvi
mahi
bhajji
zak
ishant
appam chutiya

A random Pakistan XI featuring relatively recent players.

Professor
Toffee Kumar
MoYo
Aaloo
Grandpa Tuk Tuk
Boom Boom
Dropmal
IDone
Princess
Guldozer
Druggie

Wanted to put Younis in there but couldn't think of his nickname. Does anyone know if Younis has one? Grandpa is Misbah, IDone is Ajmal (kept saying IDone in his interviews so the name stuck) and princess is Wahab because that's what David Dyer (ex Pak Fitness guy) calls him.

Had never heard that. Strange, when it's a nickname so closely associated with another cricketer. Faintly ridiculous, in fact.

1. Epithet is a synonym of nickname.
2. Mr Cricket and The Wall are both nicknames or epithets however you like to call it.
3. Who died and made you the judge of what counts?
4. The Master Blaster will always be Sir Viv.
5. Some of yours aren't even nicknames anyway? Ishant?! Sachin?! Laxman???!!!!

no one is denying that but there was a long enough period when sachin was called master blaster.
