Misbah to retire after WI series

The Tiger King
What a great man. Right up there with the likes of Imran and AH Kardar in shaping Pakistan cricket.

Became captain at a time when Pak cricket was down and almost out. Picked up the pieces and carried the team well. He will be missed.

A legend of Pakistan cricket.

Best of luck for your final series Misbah, you've given a lot to Pakistan cricket and I hope you have a great future after the game.

Predict he will have an excellent series as well, bailing out Pakistan from a tight situation in at least one match.

Will be missed. I wish the likes of Umar Akmal, Sharjeel Khan and Shehzad would use him as their role model.

Been a great servant of Pakistan cricket. Really think people will look back on him in the future with a great deal of fondness. Been a fine captain and batsman. Wish him well in his retirement and hope he goes out with a big series.

He's sort of a dual personality. Played very defensively against us in 2011 and hammered Australia with fastest test ton later.

Always one of the most likable character going around in Cricket. All the best to him for his future.

One of the very few cricketers that I liked from the Pak team. Was always one of the last reasons to not hate the team, which can be resumed now. Afridi was the other. Tough two years for Pak.

Huge hole to fill losing both. Bumpy times ahead you would think. Hopefully they can replace Misbah as captain with someone of the same type of character.

I can smell a post-Sanga/Mahela era of mediocrity on the rise for Pakistan.

He's been struggling as a player recently so it's probably the right decision, but yeah, huge shame to see him go. Whilst I don't think he's the type to be driven by personal milestones, he only needs 49 more runs to bring up 5000 career test runs, which will be a nice way to finish things.

Edit: Younis just 23 short of his 10000 too

Wow, talk about an end of an era. I was surprised Misbah decided to play on after Australia IIBH, but I felt that Younis could've survived an extra year.

Both will be hugely missed. Pakistan's batting looking pretty average now.

Who knows.. Shafiq, Babar Azam, Sami Aslam etc. might just step up like Azhar Ali has in recent times.

They've actually gone and dropped Sami Aslam for the WI tour which is a bit baffling. Worse, he's been dropped for Shan Masood.
