Marcus North Australia's Next Captain

Indeed, interesting to see whether they play SO'K or Hauritz
Hauritz played the Shield game against Queensland, as captain, while O'Keefe was left out of the squad and played grade cricket. I think that answers it, although I think they got the answer wrong.

****, why not? Since we seem to be running through the list...

Want to know more about this supposed factionalism within the Aus camp wrt to Clarke though, especially where Ponting stands on it. I've not heard this before.

Is this the Aussie press trying to unsettle the side in much the same way the English tabloids did to the football team before the World Cup with stories about players being unhappy etc.....

Whatever you think of the story the England players have probably had a good chuckle in their hotel about it.

I think everybody does.Bad news for any sporting team whoever they are when that happens.

If there is a rift, can it be fixed quickly enough to regroup?

It is true though what Vic._Orth said - relations between Clarke and Ponting are frosty.

Not in the Gillard/Rudd, Howard/Costello league, but not chummy either.

That's pretty widely known.

Didn't know that, I thought Clarke was Ponting's little pet project. Interesting.

Was the Gillard/Rudd relationship as bad as Howard/Costello though?

Clarke'll still be captain though.

Are they as frosty as Ponting/Warne seemed in 05?

The T20 team, from what I hear, certainly aren't unified behind him either.
I hear the same things too, from a source close to the team. I hear that Katich has a LOT of support within the dressing room.
V interesting I've only heard strong support for the T20 captaincy, that he's the best captain played under etc. Will be very intrigued by how this all unfolds.

Hussey came out and basically said the same thing.

Ponting was fairly supportive of Clarke following the WC - then again he wasn't playing.

It's funny - Australia only seems to consider those in the top 6 of the list.

There's 11 players in a team!

That said, Haddin's the only one I'd consider...and of course, no keeper could be a good captain, just look at Sangakkara

And I like the cut of Callum Ferguson's jib.

Everything I've heard him say has been bang on.

I think he's first in line, then Khawja.
