James Pattinson Retires From International Cricket

Son Of Coco

Cricket Web: All-Time Legend
Probably a smart decision for his health. If you can bowl 150kph your body either learns to handle it in your mid 20s or it doesn't. Pattinson's didn't, which is a shame, but that's the risk of pace.
I can testify to this. My body never learnt to handle it in my twenties, and my hips and back are sore everyday now.

I mean, I bowled 125k max, and that was with haemorrhoid-inducing grunting and straining, but my point still stands - my body has never learnt to bowl 150kph in any decade I have been alive thus far. Given I'm 47, I'll be as shocked as anyone if it suddenly does in my 6th decade. Especially if it does so in a situation that doesn't involve me somehow performing a fair delivery whilst inside a vehicle that is going 151kph.

Patto is 6'1 which is a normal-ish height, but the other gun Aus quicks are way taller. Not surprised if he feels insecure about it.
Yeah but it has nothing to do with his effectiveness right? He bowled pretty quick before the back injuries

Loved Patto, real shame he won't play for Australia again. Managed the almost impossible task of being Australian, a hot head and still seeming like a good bloke.
The good bloke will be because he’s half English
