Watching Rahul meekly defending Markram's offies in the power play is an indication of how much we've regressed as a batting unit. I can't imagine guys like Sehwag, Yuvi, Gambhir, Rohit, etc. playing with this level of negativity no matter what. I hope this insecurity goes away and batsmen start playing more freely instead of just trying to hold their position in the lineup. Pathetic.

Rohit and Gambhir started our trademark tuk tuk style of batting for 30 or 35 overs everytime. Which means you never lose many wickets but you never make any runs either.

Nah, Rohit finds the right time to cut loose and then keeps going on, sometimes it's early in the innings and sometimes he would take a few overs and wait for the right bowlers to go after. Gambhir's role was to anchor the innings when Sehwag, Sachin, etc. were on song and attack when needed(like how he did in the T20 WC in Sehwag's absence). It was MSD's template to not lose early wickets and that's what these guys followed. In any case, they wouldn't allow part timers to just bowl at them over after over to maintain their own form. Also, the game is a little more faster now than it was before. 50 over cricket is more like an extended version of T20s with field restrictions and 2 new balls.

Yea ODIs have evolved from Gambhir's day. A few sides still like to play the old school way with anchors up top and hitters at the end, but the England template is probably the forward. Hitters throughout with 1 or maybe 2 anchors in the Top 5. Bat deep and pule on the runs.

Our ODI bowling attack really needs a closer look at too. Totally different skill set to bowling in Tests. Need to identify and groom specialist white-ball bowlers.

Why is it that every two-bit ex-cricketer involved in the BCCI's power structures becomes an insufferably high-handed jerkoff?
I can't stand Powar's attitude. I don't know why some of us Indians just completely change when we get into some sort of leadership role. I really want to dive deep into this topic tbh. Becoming a little bit egoistic after success is one thing, but completely acting like some kind of a "Don" after you get some authority is just annoying AF.

Powar sounds like an idiot here. Talking **** about players who were axed, very encouraging.

Jemimah Rodrigues is 21 and full of promise, she did great in BBL and the Hundred too. What the heck is Powar doing?
They are Backing Yastika as she offers a left handed option in middle order. Probably want some strike rotation with left right combo. Not a bad ploy. Jemi hasn't really set the stage on fire at Int'l level yet. Though I'd take her over Mithali

I think the situation is that there's no actual change in what they are as a person, it's just that they didn't have power before and now they do.

[Not specifically about Powar this]

All said and done, do you think there should be major changes before a WC? Jemimah has a good T20 record and she has shown a lot of promise in ODIs. Plus she has been in good form in whatever cricket she has played recently. Same with Shikha Pandey, she is an experienced bowler who can score useful runs down the order. After the WC, the management could have tried new players since Jhulan and Mithali will mostly retire.

Yeah I would have kept her in squad. She is probably not in first XI but it was weird to see her missing from a squad altogether. Poonam Raut deserved a boot & got one. So that spot should have gone to Jemi.
