Sorry for returning him to your conscience.
 It's ok. The memory of Rooney lamping him during that tunnel fight in Istanbul made it worthwhile. Getting beaten up by a 17-year-old must have stung. ;)

Wahey. 2-0 :D

Scoreline betrays what was essentially an average England performance until Aaron Lennon got involved. England through though :)

they say its the sign of a great team if you can play badly & still win, so hopefully England do improve.

Great to see Rooney on, but Owen probably is a worry it will be interesting to see what Sven does with his striking pair now that Crouch has scored, Lampard has been odd as well the chances he has gotten to score thus far in the tournament if it were for chelsea i'd bet my last dollar he score 8 times out of 10. But we are secured a second round place most likely againts ecuador & thats the important thing.

Rooney looked decent out there. Wouldn't expect him to light up the pitch after such a long layoff but did well considering. Lennon injected some variety in attack. Decent performance by Engalnd against a stubborn T&T defence. Will have to get better as the tournament goes on though. Lampard's shooting was terrible though.

Geez, England. Not a particularly good performance by any stretch of the imagination, and it'd be foolish to gloss over 170 minutes without a goal just because both games were won.

Lennon was great after he came on, and as usual Terry had a good game and Rooney looked pretty decent, but you'd be hard pressed to find many players for England who played to the best of their abilities, if any. Not looking like a world cup winning side at all. Still, qualified.

Decent performance IMO, but top marks to Sven for the decision to change the shape.

Downing looks out of his depth though.
