I too think Akhtar is better than Bradman. Bradman too got a few test wickets, but he wasn't consistently good as a test bowler. He preferred not to bowl in most of the occasions. On the other hand, Akhtar was the bowling spearhead in his side, bowled inswinging yorkers at 155 kmph. I guess you are right, Akhtar is the better bowler. Anyone who thinks otherwise is surely overrating Bradman.
:D

(I'm hoping you got the sarcasm in my earlier post.)

Whatever it takes!!!
Would be a more interesting exercise to see what sort of players people select in their all time XIs. Like I would go with more variety than just players who were necessarily better. For instance, I could have gone with McGrath over Wasim because I do think McGrath was the better bowler there but I feel the margin was small enough that I would like Wasim's left arm angle and the variety he brings to the attack more than McGrath because I felt you already got his attributes from Ambrose and to an extent from Hadlee. Honestly, I would love to replace Ambrose with Lillee but Ambrose was rather quick himself so I felt I was covering my bases anyways... It is the same with picking a Lara over a Sachin. I felt Sachin might fit in but I wanted a left hander more.. Same with my second opener and why I selected Sehwag. Sure, he may not be a better batter than Hobbs or Gavaskar but I felt what he brought to the table was better. As a matter of fact, looking back, I would perhaps select Warne over Murali, because with Sehwag and Sobers I already got 2 out of the 3 (or 3 out of the 4 if you wanna be all pedantic) spin variations in my side...

Sad thing is Cricinfo has put Sobers, Imran and Hadlee under all-rounders only and they wouldn't let me pick more than 2 all-rounders. I like them too much to leave any one out. Haven't submitted my team yet. Hoping that they will fix it.

I pick an All Time World XI that has representation from all the major 8 teams (and in doing so, I don't have to compromise on quality). Here's my team:

1. Jack Hobbs (ENG)
2. Sunil Gavaskar (IND)
3. Don Bradman (AUS)
4. Graeme Pollock (SA)
5. Garry Sobers (WI)
6. Adam Gilchrist (AUS)
7. Imran Khan (PAK)
8. Richard Hadlee (NZ)
9. Malcolm Marshall (WI)
10. Muttiah Muralitharan (SL)
11. Sydney Barnes (ENG)

2 XI's? Hmm, well just out of interest:

1st XI:

Jack Hobbs
Barry Richards
Don Bradman
Sachin Tendulkar
Brian Lara
Garfield Sobers
Kumar Sangakkara
Malcolm Marshall
Dennis Lillee
Muthiah Muralitharan
Glenn McGrath

2nd XI:

Len Hutton
Sunil Gavaskar
Viv Richards
Greg Chappell
Wally Hammond
Imran Khan
Adam Gilchrist
Richard Hadlee
Shane Warne
Wasim Akram
Sydney Barnes

2nd XI arguably ended up with a better bowling attack.

Few points:
1. Wonder if the jury will select 2 spinners?
2.I love how Arjuna is in the middle order but The Punter isn't.

Yeah I know he didn't make the Aus XI.
Still is weird.
