England begging for a draw, Manchester, 27th July 2025

Stokes should focus less on ethics of the game and more on winning, the series should be embarrassing for him so far, any captain with an ounce of self respect would've quit after Edgbaston and he just insits on continuing.

BBC comments which usually hate on all teams playing England, have turned the hate towards the English team itself -precisely for their behaviour last evening. It's quite something.

To be fair Stokes gave them a chance to excerise their biologically ingrained hatred of everything English, so fair play on their part.
smh how is saying being anti-English is a natural instinct for many "in poor taste"
Your comment was directed towards us Indians.

It unfairly ignores legitimate historical reasons for any resentment and instead makes it sound like it’s just “in their blood,” which is what makes it an offensive statement.

If you're finding excuses to be offended then there is not much I can help with, sadly. My comment was toward certain communities of Cricketing fans, a chunk of them being Australians, not toward any race or country or people.

same thing as Gill and the point of the thread, mountain out of a molehill.

I feel like being extremely toxic and accusing general banter/meming of a xenophobic undertone.
even if you think it's a bit of a misunderstanding, you surely can understand that indian posters may feel a bit uncomfortable with your comment that stokes gave "them" a chance to exercise "their" "biological hatred of everything english", without specifying who "they" are or any more details to avoid the ambiguity here

Natural instinct is a bit questionable, but in a friendly context people will tend to take it in good faith.

I'd say biologically ingrained is really offensive though, I'd be pretty put out if you told me that Irish people had a biologically ingrained hatred of the English. There's an implication that being an enemy of the English is an immutable racial characteristic that we're helpless to change.

That was for the posters in the thread, which were predominantly Australians. I understand the confusion but once I've cleared it up I'm not obligated to think much of it.

ah well, as I said, not toward race but the cricketing communities. Though, I don't really mean natural instinct in a friendly context either. If people by large have issues with my tone when spark is active in the thread and can just ban me and people can move on with their conversation.

Just as an aside, wondering why this thread was allowed to exist. You've got one poster sticking up a load of memes and then being outraged by the response later on. Not saying the response was correct, but the general discussion was entirely predictable (and I hold my own hand up on that one too).

The thread is fine. No one made Johan post like this.

True. Proceed and hand me a perma ban if you see fit.
Well not a perma but a week, sure. Come back when you decide that you're going to stop trying to be some dollar store internet edgelord and than picking up three near identical infractions in two weeks.

"But he started it" is an excuse that's understandable if you're about nine years old but wears rather thinner when you're an experienced professional sportsman and, you know, an adult.
You need to seriously think about out how potentially awful the upcoming Ashes series might be if certain posters are still active come November.

Will send my list through in the next couple of days so the mods can get to work.

I mean I'm sure we'll manage. I honestly don't know what got into Johan in the last month or two, just a really weird pattern of posting. He was told pretty unambiguously to stop posting like this or he'd be banned, so I'm not sure what he expected.
