Guys, Prior only has 175 likes on his facebook fan page. Kindly rectify this problem asap.

I'd have Prior too, just pointing out its not as clear cut as it seems. Dhoni pre-captaincy and as captain are two different batsmen.
I see what you mean, but you could find filters like that with almost anyone. Prior for example averages 47 since his recall.

Just quietly loving the fact that around the time I first joined this forum, and at certain times since, Prior was a lolworthy byword for crapness and now he's suddenly praised to the rooftops as the finest in the world. Fact is, he hasn't improved as much as people now like to think. He was just better then than most people ever realised.

Have always rated Prior very highly as a batsman, and have always said so here. His keeping used to be pretty poor though and it seems to have improved tenfold. When he was dropped from the Test side I actually said he should've been retained as a specialist batsman if his keeping was deemed sub-par.

Agree, Prior could easily make the team as a specialist batsman and it would be interesting , though we will never know, how much better would he be, if he did get rid of the gloves.

Not a fan of Prior as he's keeping the clearly superior James Foster out of the team.

Also, Dhoni's a much more handsome fellow, so I'll pick Dhoni.

Ah. The joys of selecting a favourite for no real reason whatsoever.

Prior is probably the best keeper-batsman in tests atm so there is little doubt he is better than Dhoni but as an overall player I would still have Dhoni in my side.

Dhoni is basically a street smart cricketer who has a keeping and batting technique that many won't rate very highly, but still he gets the job done and his leadership skills and ability to stay calm at all times make him a pretty valuable player.

I have a longheld belief that Prior was easily good enough to deserve a place solely as a batsman (he is that good) it is his glovework that has improved over the last few years and the allround package he now has is probably the best in the world at present.

As I've said before, I think Dhoni's batting stats flatter what he's actually done greatly anyway; I don't read a lot into his average.

Dhoni was out to a pretty lame shot today considering the situation. Decent ball but he didn't need to play. Fair play to him walking though, many players would have stood their ground in the hope the umpire and technology helped them survive.
