Some interesting observations from the list:

India had only 4 in the top 50 but all were in the top 15.

4 each from India, West Indies and Australia make the top 20. South Africa had 3. Pakistan and Sri Lanka had 2.


As I said, if Nuffers is willing to gimme access to the data, I can throw in some pretty decent analyses.

Bracken is surely top 50 ODI bowler material. There might be a bit of a modern bias in that, but then again, its there in the entire list.

The issue with this format is of course the tactical omissions from the top 25. And Harvey still makes it because it was obviously two sns who decided they wanted him in there. One ranks him 2nd, other ranks him 8th. (I think). If you go by Jaideep's criteria, you might filter out more such names.

HB your calculations are all wrong by 1 I think.

If someone's best is 1st, you should deduct 25 from the score, not 24. The thing what I found the most interesting was seeing Saeed Anwar have the worst highest ranking out of everyone. I totally understand why no one would rate him higher than 16th too as there are clearly a few bats who were better than him at that spot.

This is definitely one of those things that someone suggests after the fact when in reality I believe there was only 53 players who received 3 or more votes - that's very risky.

Anyway, I think the list overall is good. No complaints from me, particularly at the top.

I agree that the list overall is pretty good barring Ian Harvey.Great effort running this NUFAN.

My personal favourite Tendulkar knock is his 117* in Sydney, even though he was way below the prowess of his youth at that time. India and Australia historically had interesting contests but there never really was a rivalry between them as such. It was only at that time when Australia wanted to beat India really bad due to off field controversies, Lee was bowling really fast and Australia's fielding was in a league of it's own with Symonds and Hussey. Sachin crafted his 117 off 120 balls with 10 fours, and it was this innings which gave him the confidence to play 2011 World Cup.

So I don't think it is too much of a secret who the last 3 are, so time for some semi interesting (debatable perhaps) stats.

- 42 of CW's top 50 ODI cricketers in 2011 made this list. Only 3 of the 8 new entries are still playing.
- 8 countries are represented: AUS 16, WI 9, SA&PAK 7, IND&SL 4, NZ 2, ENG 1
- Adam Gilchrist was selected in 17 different spots within peoples top 25, which was the highest.
- Muralitharan was picked by someone in each of the top 12 spots.
- 81 different Cricketers made someone's top 25.
- Clive Lloyd was voted the most times (5) without making the list. He scored 24 points.

How many voters were there in all? And did anyone make all the lists? Sorry if this was answered before.
