Current Big 4 test all rounders.

The thing about the 80s all rounders is that they were genuine ATGs as bowlers. They just also all happened to be test class bats as well.

The current crop of all rounders don't have the same gravitas as bowlers. Probably because so many of them are finger spinners, but also because Stokes and Holder are very good 4th or 5th bowlers but they're not ATG bowlers.

Botham and Dev were not ATG bowlers.

Holder > both of them right now

Holder randomly got stupidly good but no one cares because he plays for WI.
youre arguing with tjb. he's about as perceptive and impartial as you on southees odi bowling
Athlai: Southee is not great, or good, but he isn't terrible.
Phlegm: OMG ****ing lol HES THE WORST BOWLER EVER lolz

etc.
Members having the same avatar should be banned. I read this thinking it was a conversation between Phlegm and Adders and it was awful.

Realistically it's probably Stokes + Holder + Jadeja + Shakib as the big 4 allrounders.

Tier 2 would be CDG and then blokes like Ashwin and Woakes.
Why can't you just admit he's a god already?

If one applies the old "would get selected in the test XI for both batting and bowling" criterion then (if one excludes the temporarily, ah, resting Shakib) only Stokes (at a pinch) would qualify as a genuine all-rounder currently, IMHO.

& even then it's a stretch. Couldn't see him shouldering a third seamer's workload with his knees.

Reckon CdG's steady reliability is exactly the sort of thing that goes underappreciated sometimes - doesn't take loads of big hauls or make lots of huge scores, but consistently contributes which is really valuable when you're doing it in both disciplines

Stokes has the highest ceiling of the lot as a batsmen - historically his gun innings have been a bit interspersed with quite a few bad ones but he seems to be stringing together good performances more often at the moment. His bowling is always inconsistent - for his role in the side his upside is completely worth it, but that doesn't mean he's as good a bowler as Holder etc

Holder has been a god with the ball recently but I think some people overrate his batting as a whole a bit based purely on the 200 - not that it wasn't good or anything, but I don't think he has a huge number of great innings to his name. That said, his batting is obviously still useful enough and is all a bonus, really, given how good he's become with the ball.

If Jadeja can maintain his improved batting that'll be great too, although I feel like his bowling has fallen away a bit?

Holder's double was very downhill skii-ey too. His bowling is arguably stronger right now than any of the others' primary skills though.

the sky and wrist spinners are the limit for cdg's batting. one of those rare cricketers who can time the ball on any deck using proper cricket shots and find gaps at will.

his bowling is at its ceiling, where he's better than a 5th bowler and can fill a variety of roles but you'd think twice before playing him as a specialist bowler.

Stokes is the best right now. He can win or turn matches single-handedly, and he's also become very consistent for a good year or so now. Would significantly improve any team in the world right now.

EDIT : With the usual disclaimer about 6x4 cell on Pentonville Road

Ok, so now I know.

The things we do to spice up a slow Monday at work...
I spiced up my Monday with a bowl of tom yum soup and noodles with grilled pork cheeks. And then spicy Chinese noodles and lamb dumplings for dinner.
