hard to choose between Sachin, Dravid and Sanga..

would go with Dravid because he was the architect of some of India's finest wins, especially away from home.

People blindly vote for Tendulkar.

Remove the minnows and Sehwag has done fantastically well, way better than Sachin Tendulkar. He has given the middle order the platform to come and play without any pressure.

yeh, except in a pressure situation, or in the 4th innings, or when the ball is doing a bit, or when its not a flat pitch.

(1) Tendulkar , (2) Ponting the best from the Australasian subcontinent, IMO.
Australasia is a continent you ignoramus. So Ponting is the best from a continent while Tendulkar is (perhaps) the best from a piddling sub-continent. Yet another reason why Ponting >>>>>Tendulkar.

tendulkar was the best batsman of world in the last 10 years so he is also the best batsman of the sub continent.

Tendulkar had a terrible patch between 03-07. So it is close call between several players. Dravid's form has been **** compared to his usual lofty standards so ppl tend to forget just how good he was in the earlier part of this decade.

It is a close call

This is why you can't really pick tendulakr.

My vote goes to VVS Laxman. Here is a list of the stats during this period excluding BD/Zim and Laxman is right in the mix averaging 53. However if you look at tests in Australia,England and South Africa he averages 54, second only to Tendulkar among these 9 batsmen and far ahead of several of them. So in addition to being superb against the best team in this period and playing a couple of the greatest innings ever he has been consistent home and away against most teams.
Should exclude west Indies as well.

Whatever it takes!!!
I'll go with Sehwag. Seriously close between several players though.
AWTA.

Sehwag among a few close choices coz I think he redefined an integral part of test cricket and is really a pioneer.. Only Lara comes close in the way he redefined batting against spinners. But otherwise, Viru is a in a league of his own.

But for the remaining 6 years he has been OUTSTANDING. Has done enough in those 6 years to comfortably beat most of the others who played during this time. And it has to be borne in mind that Tendulkar's terrible form was terrible by his standards and not at an absolute level.

Think Dravid is being somewhat underrated in this poll. Can't think of too many reasons to put Sanga above him.

Last 2-3 years has left a bitter test. Many of us thinks he should make a way for Pujara or any such young lad.

Well, the point of the thread is to evaluate the choices over the course of the entire decade though. Yes, I was also very critical of Dravid before this series but it's good to see him among the runs again.
