His footwork needs a lot of improvement if he's ever going to succeed long term. He barely moves his feet which gets him playing shots away from his body when he's off balance.

If he was right handed he'd be called the new Damien Martyn, who basically had the same technique.

Being comparatively weaker off your pads is a lefty thing imo because of the angles.

Forget about that. Comparing their off-side play is even worse. Martyn's punch driving of both front and back foot through the off was unparalleled. Head's cross-bat hacking cover drives are as far from that as you can get.

Head squares up a lot more than Martyn did; he doesn't hit the ball as late as Martyn because of this, pushes at it.
