Australian Domestic Season 2016/17

What do Australian selectors do if they have a fit Starc, Hazlewood, Pattinson, Bird and Cummins? 5 genuinely excellent quick bowlers. Poor Sayers :(
Perhaps they might change their current policy and select the players with the best recent performances

Sort of surprised Dalton hasn't debuted yet while Raphael continues his masterful body of work for SA.

Botha probably regrets not having a hit in the two day grade stuff this season given this selection. He doesn't even count as an overseas player anymore so given they picked Crane they presumably would've had no problem picking Botha if his form demanded it (and I think it would have at various points).
Nah, they're picking Crane because he's spinning it the other way to Somerville. Surely that's played a big part in him getting a game above the offies on their list.

Yeah I don't mean they would've played Botha over Crane for this match. Just that the willingness to pick Crane, to me, indicates a desire to pick the best eleven regardless of former or even current international status, and I reckon there were games earlier in the season in which they might've thought Botha was part of that if he was in good grade form. I think if he realised that he might've actually played more than the Sydney T20.

If Pattinson wants to get back into the test team he's going to have to cut down that economy rate a bit i.e. stop bowling long hops you idiot.

Also, I can't help but notice that the Alice Springs pitch is significantly greener than all but one or two test pitches in this country over the past few years.
