Yeah look, not a bad prospect but too young and hasn't done enough to deserve it. Copperfield deserves it more than Sammut - 40+ wickets the past two seasons and he's a yard or two sharper. I'm sure there are plenty of others too, I only mention Scott's name because I'm across his performances for the reigning premiers.

Usually not a fan these sort of hunchy contract deals, but I can understand it a lot more when it comes to fast bowling than anything else. Inexperienced pace bowlers often tend to be project players to some degree, theey have more potential for the future than the hardworking but limited medium pacers that tend to take a fair few grade wickets.

That being said, Burgey (or whichever of his underpaid lackeys who wrote that) is right, Copperfield has been in the wickets and sure can get it through.

It’s bizarre isn’t it? I mean, if they want to manage the kid’s workload to try and nurture his development then fine, but to actually give him a contract sends the whole wrong message.

He was talking to Burgeinho the other day and reckons his time to get a contract has been and gone - he just turned 25 or thereabouts.

Haze and Cummins ruled out of the UAE test tour. A tour which, I must confess, I didn't know was even taking place.

You guys will probably get spanked over there like last time. Good job by those two protecting their averages a la Philander.

We're saving them so they can perform a thorough rogering of your lot when they tour later in the year.

Tremain really should be next in line. Much as I love Bird he's not well suited to the subcontinent.

tbf we're used to this.

Pattinson's played **** all tests but still managed to sneak in 6 against India.

No doubt Warner/Smith will somehow play the border gavaskar as well.

Usman Khawaja has given an interview talking about how much his fitness has improved since the South Africa tour, including the fact that he’s lost 7 kilos.

I know he’s going public with this to portray himself in the best light but imo it does the opposite. Isn’t this a tacit admission that his fitness on the SA tour (and probably throughout his entire cricket career) has been sub-par? Certainly he’s never been the most agile of fielders and you would think that wouldn’t take till your early 30s to realise the benefits of being ultra-fit.

That was my thought too. Seven kilos is a lot for a supposedly elite sportsman.

Can't say I'm surprised though.

Tomorrow is the first A one dayer,we play not sure who the other team is.
Not sure of the teams except the Aussie 1.
Wonder who will be in the line up tomorrow?

Guess if Khawjah has a good one day series he is in the Aussie line up like last time.
Not sure who in the other A teams,or B team for India.Couldn't they have invited someone like Afghanistan A to balance things up?

Khawaja has always copped criticisms of being lazy and not committed so losing the weight might be his way of saying "I'm deadly serious about wanting to play for Australia" in a language that the selectors and coach understand.
