I'm sure that it was a superb knock. Any double century is superb by definition because of the endurance it requires. However, we assess ATGs in relative terms.Pretty sure some bowlers confidence and average would have been dented bowling to the likes of Bradman, Morris etc. Look at some of the players first class records. Its no surprise people don't rate them any more. I refuse to believe that Morris 206 wasn't a superb knock.
Is 206 made during the 4th Test (1951) when Australia is already leading 3 to blot, carry the same value as 130 made during the second Test at Lords (1961) with the first Test drawn?
Especially as those 130 runs were made against Trueman and Statham trying to knock Lawry's head-off, and McDonald + Simpson back in the pavillion with the score at 6 runs. I can't imagine that Morris was under the same kind of pressure.
