I wonder if Washington will bowl enough overs to justify his selection or if he bowls like 4 overs all game and then gets to bat 12 balls while the tailenders get themselves out at the other end.

Not like we already saw that same thing play out in Australia.
Like... if Sundar has to end up bowling enough overs to justify his selection then it probably means we're in big trouble with the ball because he's only going to be called up when no one is getting wickets. And if he doesn't bowl enough, then he's basically playing as a specialist number 8 batsman? What.

We literally saw this in the Australia tour and it was a complete joke. How is this happening again.

I've no problem with Umpire's Call as a concept, but I do wonder if the Umpire thought that either it pitched outside or if it was bat. If so it renders the initial call kind of irrelevant. They've addressed this in another circumstance haven't they? I think it's the other way round though i.e. given out caught but then found to be hitting pad and Umpire's Call for lbw

I thought it was maybe pitching outside leg on first view.

Easy to umpire from home and obviously you will know that better than others(assuming your still umpiring)

I don't think it matters why they give it not out. But an interesting point wonder if anything in the law about it.

I mean I'm agreeing. Not picking kuldeep is definitely insanity. And if you want to go the draw route, pick another batter instead of an AR.
But it's the only logic in my mind I can possibly think of for picking this dumb team.
Yeah but at that point that's not even worth calling logic. Oh man, the things I'm wishing on Gambhir...

he’s also got a test bowling average in the (small sample) career as of today of 31
maybe he can kick on and start ripping through sides but until he proves he can do that at test level he’s had so much hype for someone who’s best achievements to date came as a Hobart Hurricane
Tbf he dominated Steve Smith and looked a decent test option until BJ Watling played probably the greatest ever innings by a keeper and wrecked him.

Washi would have to be something incredible this game to be justified. Like a 300 and 5fers in both innings. Though it's not really his fault he's in this no-win situation.

The whole point of this XI from Gautam Garbage is that they’ve written off games without Bumrah. This is an XI picked for a draw.
