Whatever it takes!!!
Katich ?

To be fair, as the draft community here knows, I think Watson and Katich are the best Aussie openers of the last 40 years. :p

But to answer seriously, its hard to compare given many of them played across and in different eras, but Slater was always a personal favorite of mine, so going with him for this poll.

Yeah I wanted to see who you'd choose between Watson and Katich and then you picked Slater!

Also I meant to get it to show who people voted for but forgot then couldn't edit. Can mods change that?

Would have been Phil Hughes
Honestly not so sure about that. Clearly talented, but hard to know if would have ironed out some of those technical flaws. I recall the utterly mediocre Chris Martin had his number by starting it middle and leg with the angle. In fact if my memory serves he was dismissed 'Caught Guptill, Bowled Martin' in all 4 innings in the 2011/12 2 test series.

It's Justin Langer isn't it? Him or Tubby, probably. Both Tory ***** though, so might have to go with Slats.

langer, warner, the only i've seen while alive and of the two langer by a country mile
can't comment on the grander scheme

Warner being tied with langer is interesting. Langer averaged 50+ as an opener from memory and Warner's away record is LOLBAD.

Langer, the fact we know he worked so well with Hayden is a bonus. The perfect opening pair much like Greenidge and Haynes were for West Indies.

Justin Langer while is a 48 averaging Opener , A Great Portion of those stats come from feasting on post 2000 tracks , in the 90s he used to average 36 , I'll take a Batsmen who average 45 in the 90s over someone who averages 51-52 in 2000s , Taylor and Boon for me.

In One Day cricket , Mark Waugh and David Warner
