2024 Ranking of Batsmen Poll

Line and Length

Cricketer Of The Year
Before I vote for this round , can someone explain me why George Headley would have been better batsman than Mike Hussey, Pujara , Jimmy Adams and Trott all of whom averaged near 60 when they had 2000 runs ? Why his case is more compelling?
I am curious ( Not trolling) .
Perhaps this should be in the debate thread but as the question is lodged here, I'll give my reasoning.

He wasn't called the "Black Bradman" without good reason.
Grimmett used negative tactics (fielding and line) to counter him in Australia yet said "Headley was the best on-side batsman against whom he had played".
Like Bradman and Hutton his career was interrupted by WWII. Prior to the war his Test average was 66.72
He achieved this fine Test career playing for a side that is often regarded as 'minnows' at the time.

Absent any FC record, it's very difficult to vote for Headley or G Pollock.

Hammond
Sutcliffe
Kallis

Without FC record, I won't vote for Pollock (which I would do anyway) but I think Headley achieved enough in his 20+ year career, in which he totally carried his team's batting without any precedence or repentance since; to be voted in. Top 15 or not is definitely up for debate though....

About 30 votes indicates a far greater interest in the Batsmen Poll than there was for the bowlers.
A fairly predictable result:
57 - Richards; 51 - S.Smith; 37 - Gavaskar; 21 - Hammond; 6 - Sutcliffe; 5 - Headley, Kallis; 1 - Ponting, Williamson.
Richards is down 2 spots on the 2022 survey while Smith is up 2 spots and Gavaskar retains 9th place.

Voting is now open for positions 10-12 with a coveted Top Ten spot up for grabs.
