Big question: why are you poms clinging so strongly onto something that had nothing to do with you? And losing at home to India was plenty enough karma for that.
Though I don't really care about it anymore, I personally revelled in sandpaper gate so much at the time because of how ****** the Australian team acted in the 2017 ashes series. Think it is increasingly overlooked just how bad they were getting with what happened in SA being the culmination of a gradual decline towards eventual cheating. I particularly remember that Bairstow controversy where they made a big thing out of literally nothing just to try and ruin him mentally for the series. As well as that their on-field behaviour was reported to be particularly bad (I remember reports that there were some very personal sledges being thrown at some of the players.)

It just felt very satisfying to see it happen, and I'd expect fans of other teams to feel the same way if it were us as well.

Yeah yeah, giving you something to talk about bar Langer and his barefoot brigade of numpties.

There is a really immature retort to that but no need as you still salty about your nation bottling 2 big games in quick succession in cricket and rugby.
bruh, im not the one obsessed with david warner for 2 days straight. we're not talking umpire assisted world cup ties here.

sandpapergate was funny because of how holy and sacred australian cricket considers itself, but flibberty here almost seems insecure about it. he should be laughing, not getting wound up.

Who is he?

Never heard of the hack.
Swing bowler who can bat a bit. Has mostly been a white ball specialist for large chunks of his career but has been in good form recently and seen as a bit of a Dukes specialist.

Still selecting him seems pointless.

Warner the cheat deserves everything coming, as do Smith and Bancroft. If it was our lot who had done it the crims would be merciless in their contempt (look at how they treated Broad for far less) so it is fair game as far as I am concerned.

Not like we are calling out people with mental illness for being weak is it like Warner did. What goes around comes around.

Was Neser the guy who played the last test in the SA tour? I remember Warne kept going on and on about his lack of pace as if that made him fundamentally flawed and doomed to fail at test level. I imagine Philander was probably playing the same test just to make his obsession with his pace, or lack thereof, all the more bizarre

I have no idea why the Australian bowlers spent so much time going around the wicket to Burns when the angle plays to his strength

He has a glaring weakness around off so just keep angling it across

This article is interesting: https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/_/id/27309981/australia-method-offers-promise-not-results

Main problem with the comparison is that Australia's batting probably isn't strong enough to stay in matches long enough to deal with days with the ball where not a lot goes right, so instead of being a 7/10 standard they probably need to be a 9/10 standard.

If this was a situation where instead of 280 Australia were defending 400 I'd be feeling pretty good, for example.

Why can we figure it out when they can't?

Yeah this in spades. The self righteousness and pomposity of crickets most irritating nation being punctured was funny (and the enormous overreaction that followed even funnier) but people actually caring about it still now is a bit sad.
