The 90s and 00s banlisted draft thread

But I selected Sangakkara as a specialist batsman. I was tempted by taking Gilly and making Flower a pure batsman, but a 6-7-8 of Gilly-Flintoff-Wasim, while exciting, seemed a little lacking in stickability if required. Sangakkara, as a pure batsman, improved my batting more than adding...

Victorian - one test is enough to decide he's not test quality.

    The CW50 - No.8

Lol. Gold. Had me excited for a second there.

Fmd, at this rate of injury, perhaps we should enquire as tithe availability of the women's team to fill in if required. Backing Mick Lewis to be called from retirement soon.

Bull****. you're all ****s!!!

    The CW50 - No.9

Oh noez, CW's fast bowling cartel's quest to continuously downplay the importance of everything apart from fast bowling hits a tiny speedbump! Think I had Marshall about 7. Well done to the guy for being rated, again, the best of the pure bowlers. Along with Imran and Warne, pretty sure SF...

Yeah, thanks Stephen, been a good draft. And I thought your team was also very good, could easily have picked it ahead of Marcs. I think it has the best pace attack of the teams, under the criteria of the draft.

Fortunately I have a decent stand by if Andy's not performing with the gloves.

Playing Selector: Team of the decade - the 00s

Good work - hope you're going to write up an article and submit it to James for inclusion on the front page. "With the end of the decade drawing near for all but the mathematically pedantic, we asked the CW community to nominate their team of the decade via a series of polls..." ;)

Steven Smith - Will he go anywhere?

Yeah, killed his career by moving across the Nullabor to the wrong state - unlike Katich who saved his by moving to Sydney :p

Steven Smith - Will he go anywhere?

I did say it was largely tongue in cheek and a product of a broader NSW-Vic rivalry, didn't I?

Nah :p Out of interest, who do you think is the second best team (after your own)?

    Any sign of number 9?

Steven Smith - Will he go anywhere?

Nah, its largely tongue in cheek, although enough Victorians seem to have undue difficulty being selected to give it some legs - there's plenty of smoke: off the top of my head in recent times Matty Elliott, Brad Hodge, David Hussey, Chris Rogers. Some examples are more egregious than others...

Hope he doesn't get too focused on beating the gun, as opposed to the bat. Has massive potential.

    Gundappa Viswanath

I suppose he did scrape together scores of 45 and 35 in that match - it looks like the pitch might have been pretty lively day 1 (20 wickets fell if assuming they got through their 90 overs in the day)

Yeah, no dramas, I wanted to do it when I made my final selection, but was on the mobile and its too hard to do with the little keyboard and small screen.

I reckon my team would long term be the most successful, but given it's generally considered poor form to vote for yourself, I've voted for Marc's team as the one that would most consistently trouble my lads. Really like the batting, and Clark, Gillespie and Fraser would be a suffocating line...

btw, was going to list my team with full stats, might as well do it in this thread. All stats are only for the period 1990 onwards: Andrew Strauss (Eng) - 67 matches, 5266 runs @ 44.6, 18 100s (1 century per 3.7 matches) Michael Vaughan (c) (Eng) - 82m, 5719@41.44, 18 100s (1 per 4.5m) Kumar...
