    Manufactured openers' success

Tsk tsk TC. After this long on CW, you should know there is an element in CC who hold that 'my theories'>reality!

    The CW50 - No.7

Would have had Imran a couple of spots higher. He's a top 5 player IMO.

Pakistan cricketers racially abused in New Zealand

Actually, you're the one saying that you as a rule presume it to be one way, whereas I thought I was pretty clear in saying that I thought it was something that could be either one thing or the other, ie. you can't make a hard and fast rule about it.

Not saying that they're not similar, and followers to a degree of his example, but that doesn't change Viv's uniqueness, anymore than the bowlers who were inspired by Larwood or Lillee make those players not unique.

Come vote on the 90s and 00s banlist draft final teams

I was pretty certain pretty early that I'd go for a bowler and a batsman in 10 and 11, regardless of where I came out. The 'worst' case for me would have been being drawn around 5/6 and therefore not having a pick in the first four in either round, as I was pretty certain there'd be an unseemly...

    Manufactured openers' success

This is a bit disingenuous Rich. You've objected on many occasions to the idea of players who have played in the middle order playing as openers.

    The CW50 - No.8

On one hand I think he's about 3 spots too low, on the other, can see the argument for people like Marshall to have been above him. That probably means he's found about right spot. Amazing player - I rate him on ability above all pure batsmen other than Bradman and Hobbs, but that's obviously...

Select the skipper: Best of 00s

Would have voted for Warne, but within the criteria BP has laid out, Ponting. Is underrated as a captain IMO, and with this team his weak points as a skipper would not be exposed.

    Just how good is Ntini?

    Uppercut - it's called a double standard.

So, is there something actually wrong with Roach? Bewildering that he wasn't bowled more today.

    A.F.L Thread

Potentially massive for the East African community in Melbourne as well. If for no other reason, I hope he succeeds for them.

Sobers might have been a good one - some people would probably have been more inclined to try and defend that "result". But the instant outrage that led more than a couple to post angry rants before reading the whole thread might not have been so pronounced.

At least the Pakistanis didn't have things thrown at them like our boys did. :disapproval:

Actually disagree that this is always the case. Sometimes in vino veritas is the case, and there are definitely some racist ****s out there who feel a bit braver when in a mob and suitably lagered up. But other times the judgement/inhibition reducing affects of booze make people say stupid...
