*Official* 3rd Test at the Sardar Patel Sports Complex, Ahmedabad, 24 - 28 Feb 2021

We've seen it all: Batsmen reviewing after a clear nick & batsmen not reviewing after a clear miss.

YJB's square bat is hardly caused by the pitch, I would think.

What? I took a shower, and no wickets fell! Indian bastards been doctoring a batting paradise, again!

Is there anyone thinking YJB is going to get a proper score here?

I don't know what to think of this. I really was hoping for India not to take a massive lead, as I want to watch a proper test. But 20 wickets (you heared it first here) before lunch (or tea....) on day 2..... Not good!

What are the laws on impact? The middle of the ball inside the outer side of the off-stump? And when is it umpire's call?

(this is on the Rahane wicket) A left-arm spinner bowling round the wicket to a RHB, pitching it clearly outside off. If the ball straightens properly, it misses, if it straightens just tiny bit (which was the case), chances are the impact is outside. Not plumb at all, imho.

The point is the laws do not mention "fingers under the ball". They mention "the ball not touching the ground, before the the fielder is in control of ball & himself". This ball quite clearly did touch the ground, before the catch was completed.

In no way these are easy bowling conditions. Yet, Ben Foakes is showing what one can do on this pitch: play for time, be patient, and put the occasional bad ball away. A bit unfortunate he is alone at it.

When watching Ian Bell, I always felt he his technique was right there (or better) with all those greats of his time (Tendulkar, Pietersen, Ponting, Kallis, Dravid, Sangka, you name them). But somehow he didn't live up to it.

Especially as he immediately reviewed it.

I can't wait to see who is right on the bowling mix. India a seamer short, is my guess now.

I would given that out 100 out of 100 times within a few seconds. Both angles showed nothing behind the line, so an easy decision.

So, the team that had beaten the Aussies in Brisbane, went on to lose at home, after adding their best batsman and best bowler. Great stuff!

I was just going to post this was a perfect opportunity for Elgar to get another 199. Just 72 short though. Faf's chance to get to 199 or 200 then!

And Joe Burns, earlier today/tonight. The theory that the batsman always knows, has been debunked many times. Also: India had an LBW-review today, whereas the ball had pitched miles outside leg.

One wicket today, to get things really in the balance?
