Philander is starting to leak runs ?

*Official* Sri Lanka in Pakistan 2019 (Tests)

And here I am, wondering if anyone knows what type of attack is normal for Pakistan home match. I genuinely can't recall ever having watched one

I wouldn't bet on Jimmy to make the difference. Nevertheless, I really, really would like to see him going on for another year. Or at least a series. He is the finest bowler I've ever seen.

    *Official* Pakistan in Australia 2019

He has just got passed The Don. And that's it. Wally Hammond, Hanif Mohammad, Jayasuriya, Len Hutton, Sir Garry, Jayawardene, Lara, Hayden & Lara stay ahead of him.

    Joe Root captaincy thread

Of course they evolve due to the state of the game! But how many times does the state of the game bring you to a situation you didn't think of onebeforehand? As to your example: needing one wicket with a bucket load of runs to play with, is a fairly standard situation, not? So what happens...

    Joe Root captaincy thread

Makes me wonder: The field settings/plans are not conjured up during the game! At least they should not be, in any half decent professional team. I'ld like to think 80 to 90% of the situations are more or less standard situations. If we assume JR's captaincy is sub standard, where does he go...

    Failure of the series

Warner had a good series in the field. He held on to some good catches. I don't suppose there is an easy & objective way to quantify fielding performances, but a dropped catch costs about 40 runs on average. DW had 8 catches, whereas Roy had just one. Not sure how many chances they have spilled...

    3rd Test at Headingley, Leeds

Yeah, that was a shocker, I remember well. Maybe not as bad as Kallis surviving Flintoff in 2008 (Aleem Dar)? At least the Brett Lee ball to Jones was moving a lot, bowled from round the wicket. Crap, now it sounds like I'm defending BB..... That was never my intention!

    3rd Test at Headingley, Leeds

I've been replaying things dozens of times now, in slo-mo and real speed. I don't think any decent umpire would give it out. My 2 cents :) .

Greatest ever innings played at Headingley

IMHO, Stokes' innings, for its build-up. So many different gears! Actually, it makes me wonder why his average is not a bit higher. Then again, the way he got out in the first innings.....

Good to see the umpires take the first possibility to mess things up.....

    1st Test, Edgbaston, Birmingham

My presiction for today: England quietly batting on in fine weather, buidling a 150 run lead. After tea, the Aussies will lose 5 wickets to overcast conditions.

    1st Test, Edgbaston, Birmingham

On Burns’ (apparently) 36 misses: I’ve been watching the whole day with a friend. And this was something we discussed too. Quite some times, Burns was lucky not to knick it. Yet, watching front on, you can’t tell if a sideway leave, as ugly as it looks, is actually rather safe. Not sure if this...

I think it's horribly wrong. Anderson, Broad, Woakes will be done with this lot in a session and a bit.

It's how many view the Australian culture. Not that one Australian would agree.....

    1st Test, Edgbaston, Birmingham

Can't wait for this to start! Overcast & humid today in Birmingham, I reckon. I expect to see 5 wickets before lunch. If England bat first, 6, but Burns' wicket doesn't really count, does it? I reallty can't see the bloke surviving this series, despite the utter lack of proper alternatives.

Final - England v New Zealand

Umpires are never wrong, are they :) ? My mistake might very well be in the part that states "unless you are taking evasive action".

Should deflected overthrows off stokes bat have only been 5 runs not 6?

Like many others, Taufel conviently ignores the "throw or act" part of the laws. IMHO, 'act' can only refer to Stokes' slide that knocks the ball for 4 overthrows. Anyway, A law that states "at the instant of A or B", is a louzy law anyway.
