How important are runs from number 8?

    If you’re 6/50 odd I’d say they’re very important. Less so if you’re 6/480.

Yeah. I think finger spinners are subhuman as much as the next guy, but the idea Lee > Lyon is reprehensible tbh. And it’s close between he and Starc imo. Lyon is the most important bowler in the Australian team. Not the best, he the most important.

They were playing for a draw in Sydney weren’t they? I don’t recall them having a crack at a chase that day. Could be mistaken though. Cbf looking it up. I mean they lost eight or nine poles in the last two sessions, three in an over to Michael Clarke ffs. They deserved to lose.

Steve Smith in the first Ashes test next summer. First of four triples for him for the summer

In terms of pure bowling skill, is Bumrah the greatest you have seen?

Nah McGrath was a freak too. He was just subtly brilliant. Bumrah’s skill set is more diverse but McGrath is often undersold because he did less flashy things but did them at a crazy level.

It’s mostly rain which has ****ed over the SCG in recent times rather than the deck, though I do think Aus curators in general are pretty **** but get some sort of elevated status for bizarre reasons. And that pitch in particular has sort of gone from one extreme to another in recent times

    2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

I just saw TGC lads summing up this and the Aus-WI test and they were on point with something. After the WTC final, they like many of us had the ***** with our bowling unit for not getting it done against SA, and fair enough too. But then they’ve arrived in the UK and seen the utter ****ing...

Thirty years holding a bilateral test trophy must be close to a record between two established nations, you'd reckon.
