About the only thing you can be sure of is that Siddle and Johnson won't bowl well on the same day. I hope that is a monster jinx.

    Your nations Under 23 team

How about Coulter-Nile instead of Pattinson? About as much experience but better stats, handier with the bat and he's properly quick if that is what you are looking for. And James Faulkner could get in ahead of Mitch Marsh (much as I hate writing that ) nice to have a leftie, no make that...

That's pretty horrible for an SA player. Just like North, which is kind of creepy.

It might help if he wasn't such a pressure valve.

But imagine what it must be like to play alongside him. Some members of the team must want to deck him three-quarters of the time. How can you build a cohesive unit with such a loose cannon?

And Shaun Marsh has been averaging over 50 for the last two years in Shield cricket. It doesn't mean he'll be a good player at international level. Hauritz might get another chance. Beer probably won't last, then they'll have Lyon to throw in the mix, maybe even Boyce? Hauritz might end up...

You would hope so. Clarke never having captained Warne is going to be a big boost for the team. Hauritz has turned into a far better bowler by not playing. I'm not saying what the selectors have done is right, but if you take out Pakistan, who bat like teenage gunslingers firing at everything...

All Craddock's done is make himself sound like he's been living on an island without internet or satellite facitlities for the last couple of years which isn't a good look for a sports journo. I notice he carefuly kept away from mentioning O'Keefe's stats whereas he was happy to fling them into...

Can Australia rebuild in time for the next Ashes series

I just want to see them show some fight under pressure in the next series let alone in two years time. But with the thread subject, it seems to be too early for the Aussies to make a realistic competition of it. There appears to be a bit of a talent void at present, which is mixed with players...

Or take 20 wickets a lot of the time.

Don't want four pacemen. If Johnson turns up you don't need them and they don't help if he doesn't.

I reckon he's our best in any conditions apart from humidity at the Gabba - Hilf - and an early seabreeze at the Waca - Johnson.

How anyone can use the term 'shock inclusion' when talking about our selectors is beyond me. Anyway, I would have thought that Copeland was pretty logical. Why should Siddle get the new ball when he was so poor with it over 4/5 innings against Zim? You can't give it to Mr Left-Arm Anxious and...

    Pietersen vs Clarke

Best thing Clarke could do is go back to 5. KP has a slightly better conversion rate as well as more big scores than Clarke at a better strike rate. I think KP is more talented as a batsman overall and that shows through in his stats in all formats.

Pick one former player to add to your current Test team

For the Aussie team, I'd go for Alan Davidson, that way we'd get to see the back of Johnson.

The rest of the batsmen owe Watson (and Katich) big time so if he doesn't get runs, Punter will have to pull some weight,. He needs to prove he still has what it takes..

I think his speed might be an asset in Sri Lanka, he'll be harder to get away. I'll be expecting Johnson and Siddle to get hit. Mind you, Johnson seem to bowl well on unsuitable wickets so he might pull something out of the bag. Strange man. I reckon he prefers flat wickets as the expectation...

    Pietersen vs Clarke

Pietersen is - or has been - far better under pressure than Clarke. He's fished the English line-up out of the manure loads of times before he had this long slump.

Really nice to watch, gets some decent turn and lovely flight. Nothing wrong with trying to get the batsmen hitting you in test cricket, that's what Warney always said he wanted, so if he is very attacking, good for him. I doubt he'll have much success but at least he won't be bowling flat...

Vaughan has got a brain though and can be fairly charming for a sportsman. Anybody ever heard Shaun Marsh interviewed? He's getting better, but seriously, he sounds like he's a few sandwiches short of a picnic and really uncomfortable with the media. But then Andy Symonds was like that, he...
