**Official** Sri Lanka in England / Scotland - 2011

That was Bell's big opportunity to really make his mark for once, he's had loads on time to play himself in. All this talk about his superb form is so much twaddle when you look at his record and sr.

Well I don't know, they are going along at over 4 an over. That's what Clarke and Hussey do generally in the boring middle overs.

    Zimbabwe 'A' v Australia 'A' v South Africa 'A'

He can do EVERYTHING. After all, he's a converted wicket-keeper. This is getting interesting. I have no idea what the batting order is, I can't believe that SOK came in before Maddinson and Wade, now crapinfo is saying that Hastings is in?

David Warner is busy warming up for the four dayers.

Warner took one like that in the World T20 against Sri Lanka in England a couple of years ago. It was on the boundary. Absolute screamer. Actually Ben Laughlin (!!) took a ripper like that against South Africa in 2009. Remember how he somehow ended up playing ODI's for Aus that long summer that...

    Zimbabwe 'A' v Australia 'A' v South Africa 'A'

He's 25 as is Copeland. Starc is 21, Lyon - who I am trying not to get too pleased about - is 23. I'm so glad that Hilf was left out of this squad after all.

I'm just pleased he got fined at all. He gets away with all sorts most of the time.

This will at least give Warner a chance to not be **** if they don't have to go after the bowling at all. Nice thing about this attack is that apart from SOK they are all 25 and under. Hastings is doing a fantastic job. Now that Tait has retired they'll have to give him a real run in the one...

Hussey has fallen away in the past six months, but he was the safest pair of hands we had for about four years. He's probably one of the best gully fielders the Aussies have produced. He has swallowed in many screamers in that area. But now I think of it, Smith has reminded me of Symonds a few...

You are being very harsh on Warner, he's one of the best ground fielders we've got. And I'm not a fan of his at all, but he can stop anything.

No, I'd agree that his bowling has developed, but tbf, he wasn't very good at all to start with so that's not a surprise.

What about Warner? He's brilliant in the field. Johnson should be superb as well but - as with all things he does - he's too much of a flake.

Or it's the real Wade bowling his thunderbolts.

    Zimbabwe 'A' v Australia 'A' v South Africa 'A'

Cricinfo being ****. Lyon is at it again. Considering SOK's record in A team matches, I assume this means that Lyon will be ignored forever more.

I would hope so, but the conditions were so conducive to bowling in England in that series that I'm not sure much that happened there can be read as a guide for the Lankan bowlers at home. I did like the look of Lakmal, he appears to have decent control.

Rank the current intl keepers by their combined (keeping+batting) abilities

Not up to much against the slow bowlers. Misses a stumping, then spends the next five overs taking the bails off every opportunity he gets but without any success. Also the ball goes through his legs a lot. Warne would have just about keeeelled him if Haddin had kept to him very often...

    ***Official*** Australia in Sri Lanka

It's too early though. If they play him as a specialist spin bowler while he is learning his trade, he is going to get belted for a few years. He's not got Warne's ability to give it a tweak so he'll have to learn Kumble's guile but that will take a long time. Plus in NSW he wasn't used as a...

    Zimbabwe 'A' v Australia 'A' v South Africa 'A'

He should die his hair blonde and declare himself a leggie.

Yeah, he really is. But then that leaves the issue of what to do with Steve Smith. Our selectors love him but it seems that the team is getting out of whack by playing a bits and pieces player in the test team.

At five, instead of making collapses worse, he has some ability to stop them, but then I suppose Huss does the same thing. If they put Khawaja in at 4, then Huss could bat at 6, but of course Smith has squatters' rights at 6, or so it seems.
