    Leading Try-Scorer

I'd say the 5 players to look out for would be: Joe Rokocoko (NZ) Rupeni Caucauinbuca (Fiji) Doug Howlett (NZ) Ben Cohen (Eng) Matt Rogers (Aus) There are probably a few French players but none have really stood out ahead of those 5.

    Early Favourites

I'd say that if all goes to plan England will be 1 of the WC finalists, the opposition will be contested between NZ, France & Australia.

    Munaf Patel

Interesting to see that Munaf Patel has been included in the India 'A' side to play NZ before the test series. If he does destroy NZ, that would be a huge psyhological blow in favour of India.

    2004 England Home Series

I didn't realise NZ were in England next year so im quite excited after looking at the latest schedule. The Natwest Series will be contested between Eng/NZ/W.I...should make for an interest series considering all 3 teams are relatively even in terms of ODI's.

NZ Womens player dies from Meningitis

Frances King aged 22 has died suddenly from meningitis. King played 15 ODI's for NZ & took 21 wickets. On behalf of Cricketweb we would like to send our deepest sympathy to the King family.

Cricketweb Report Good to see NZ cricket are allowing some of our fringe players a chance to play some competitive cricket.

    NZ simulating Indian conditions

I just read at Cricinfo that caretaker coach Ashley Ross has enlisted a large group of 10 year olds to shout at the NZ batsmen for 15 minutes while they bat. Ross said that if the batsmen can handle surviving in an unpleasant training environment then it has to help their mental strength.

    Most friendly player

Out of all the players i've met, two have struck me as being very down to earth people and not being big-headed about their fame as cricketers. Daniel Vettori - A great person to speak to & doesn't let fame go to his head. Shane Bond - same as Vettori Obviously there are others that i've yet...

    NZ names squad

Well I think the test squad is probably the best we can put out at the moment minus Bond & Cairns so no problems there. However I still feel we are very light on batsmen in the ODI squad and this will probably count against us.

    Damien Martyn in trouble

I see its Damien Martyn that has split with his soon to be bride over a large amount of txt messaging to a young south african woman. What is it with these guys? I think the ACB should ban cellphone use while Australia are touring overseas.

    Saeed Anwar retires

Not surprising really..he seemed on the outer with the Pakistan selectors and he was getting on in age. Probably one of Pakistan's more honest players who spent alot of time in the shadows of the Akrams, Maliks, Ul Haqs etc.

    Gloucs v India 'A'

I notice that Glouc's are playing Craig McMillan, Chris Harris & Shoaib Malik today...how are they able to do this? don't County rules apply for India 'A' matches? This is a good chance for Macca & Harris to impress John Bracewell for various reasons. I guess Macca will be wanting to show he...

    Graeme Smith

damn Graeme Smith is fast becoming my most hated sports player..he is constantly making controversial statements or whinging about something. So far this week he's said that theres no way England will beat South Africa and now he's calling the schedule unfair..although he'll recall that in the...

    McCullum moves to Canterbury

Interesting news that Brendon McCullum will play for Canterbury this season. Now to me that is VERY interesting because Gareth Hopkins did pretty good for Canterbury last season and theres also Michael Papps..but maybe they just want him to concentrate on opening.

    Round 4 Four Day Reports

Karachi on a roll Karachi have continued to impress under new coach Tim Evans with a close and well fought win over FreeState. FreeState batted first and were looking in trouble at 6/104 before a quickfire 74 from Bakkes got the homeside through to 227. Fernando impressed with the ball for...

Fleming & Vettori off to England

Fleming is now confirmed as Yorkshire's 2nd overseas player while Vettori will replace MacGill at Notts while he is playing against Bangladesh in Australia. Good to see Vettori having a crack at County cricket I think it'll be a good chance for him to try a few new bowling variations & maybe...
