**Official** 2005 Lions tour of New Zealand

Only 2 weeks or so until the first match against Bay of Plenty in Rotorua. The Lions are playing Argentina at Cardiff this week but they can be excused for having one eye on heading down south.

    Aussie Rugby Players popping pills

Now we know why the Waratahs are doing better than usual this season! they're popping caffeine pills. God help Peter Hewat when he stops using them. If the Waratahs are playing this good on those pills then if the Canterbury team started taking them, the rest may aswell forget about turning up...

Fleming & Ponting in Rexona Ad

Has anyone seen that tragic ad with Fleming & Ponting yet?

NZ Academy side named for Australian tournament

Haven't posted in a while, but I didn't realise the NZ Academy was set to play a series of matches in Australia against an Australian Academy & Indian selection side. The NZ team is: Jacob Oram (captain, Central Districts) Graeme Aldridge (Northern Districts), Todd Astle (Canterbury), Shane...

John Wright set to take up role with the NZC

It has been rumoured today that John Wright is set to accept a senior coaching/management role at the NZ Academy & also take over the coaching duties of the NZ 'A' side. This is a huge bonus for NZ. It would be silly not to use his experience that he gained while coaching India.

**Official** New Zealand v World XI

It looks as though NZ will play a World XI side in early february. 3 Matches will be held at Auckland, Wellington & Christchurch in order to help compensate money lost from the Sri-Lankan tour. Apparently the players confirmed are: Michael Bevan, Justin Langer, Nathan Bracken, Greg Blewett...

    Bond's back

Shane Bond bowled for his club side in Christchurch today for the first time in 7 months since he broke down in England last year. Bond is targeting the ODI series against Australia here in Feb/March...although I think that may be unrealistic. I read an article today where Bond said he...

    European Rugby Matches

A couple of interesting results over night. South Africa went down to Ireland & Scotland put 100 points on Japan!? Otherwise fairly predictable for England & NZ.

    League Tri-Nations

Pretty good game today I thought. Some really big tackling from both teams. I thought the stand-out player was David Kidwell, man he nailed a couple of beauties...he's kinda come from nowhere to be playing international league again. I thought the ref made a couple of poor calls on both...

    Matthew Walker quits Wellington

http://www.stuff.co.nz/stuff/0,2106,3063848a10133,00.html Matthew Walker has dramatically left Wellington after having an argument with coach Vaughan Johnson. --------- What a bizarre scene of events. It seems to me as though Walker turned up to the first fitness session extremely unfit &...

    Is Pietersen a team player?

I read at Cricinfo that Kevin Pietersen has left Nott's mainly because he fell out with team-mates. It raises the question whether he'll succeed with England if he's got a chip on his shoulder..on the other hand, he may not have been the problem at Notts. Does anyone know much about him as a...

    Rugby League Simulators

Are there any Rugby League simulator games out there? I remember one awhile back, but I can't remember the link to it.

    Billy Bowden

I haven't seen Billy as of late but it appears he's becoming more animated in his signals again. I love it how he winds up for a six.

    NZ v USA

347/4 after 50 overs. Astle - 145* Styris - 75 McMillan - 64 Total annihilation. The first 10 overs were a drag while NZ sussed out the bowlers & the conditions weren't ideal but Astle & Styris batted well & ended up with a good result.

    Rain, Rain Go Away

Looks like rain might have a say on the opening games today. Apparently NZ v USA is already looking at a lengthy delay.

    The ICC Fair Play Award

http://nz.cricinfo.com/link_to_database/ARCHIVE/CRICKET_NEWS/2004/SEP/041128_COL-ENGLAND_09SEP2004.html What a ridiculous article. Complaining about the fact that England didn't win the token award, which unfortunately went to NZ most likely because no NZ players featured anywhere else. I...

    NZ show their hand

NZ take on Sri Lanka tonight in a warm-up match. The NZ side has been named & is possibly the side they will use to play Australia. Stephen Fleming (captain), Nathan Astle, Hamish Marshall, Scott Styris, Jacob Oram, Chris Cairns, Chris Harris, Brendan McCullum, Daniel Vettori, Kyle Mills and...

    Campion/Cleary return to Warriors

Campion returns as defence coach while Cleary will become Tony Kemp's Assistant. Monty Betham will also step down as Captain at the end of the season. Apparently the Warriors are targeting Taranaki NPC winger Shayne Austin. He's a good player & the Warriors need a good winger.

NZ 'A' opponents for next season

It has been announced today that NZ 'A' will tour South Africa in September. South Africa 'A' were meant to return the favour here next year but have apparently pulled out & will now come in 2006. NZC have sent an invitation to India 'A' as a replacement for South Africa.
