Anyway since the terrible penalty shoot out between England and Sweden, Spain have missed two penalties and Germany and Norway one. France did score one tonight at least.

I was trying to explain to my daughter the other day why I reckoned that Germany would beat Spain as and when they met in the knock-outs. Basically along the lines that Germany would defend much better than the sides that Spain were annihilating in the group stage and, noting that Spain conceded a goal or two even against those sides, that Spain would concede a goal or two against Germany. Naturally my teenage daughter wasn't having any of it, given that her dad knows half of nothing about anything. But we'll see on Wednesday night.

Ignoring the penalty count, Sweden's 4-1 win against 10 person Germany and said's subsequent performance against France does put our performance against Sweden look a wole lot better than some people were saying at the time.

We were out played by France though. Think the top sides are all very similar.

As for Germany v Spain, the Germans will be knackered and quite a few of their players were carrying niggles by the end. Spain have cruised through and might find it a challenge to step up if Germany hang in the match, but in terms of quality and fitness they have the advantages.

No, I'm not interested in talking about boxing, nor does it have anything to do with what's being discussed here.

It's fun to troll your pedantry sometimes, but the fact we can't analogize between power/strength output to mass and it's obviously recognized relation in one sport, to see it would apply to another requiring power/strength output, is a bit next level.

England huffed and puffed for 95 minutes before getting the equaliser. They are clearly the better side but the quality and decision making in the final third, albeit against a side doggedly determined to hold on at all costs, has been poor.

Not sure what they Italians have to complain about - the defender literally fell on top of the England player in the box.

Got the job done in the end despite clearly not being as good as they were 3 years ago.

Italian women showing they knew all the dark arts of time wasting, but came back to haunt them eventually. Clear penalty, asking for trouble.

They might just fluke the Final too.

Penalties scored on the rebound might be the worst type of goal. Shouldn't be allowed.
