3rd Test (Lord’s) - 10 July to 14 July

Akash Deep has really struggled at Lord's. Good to see him finally get a wicket. Brook as always is a dasher - reckless at times.

Brook is Gen Z version of Baz

These are the kind of shots Baz would play in his prime regardless of the situation

Whatever it takes!!!
I like how mentally level Jamie Smith seems to be as a batsman. He plays his shots but he also defends or works singles when its not in his hitting range or whatever. He seems to be far more mentally sorted than a Harry Brook even today. I dont know much about his keeping but hopefully he reaches his potential as a batsman, ideally after this series. :p
As I was saying before this test and just now...

I remember back during covid when Crawley smashed that 200, I mentioned even before that game that Crawley seemed to have a higher ceiling than Pope. Crawley was more KP level in his ceiling while Pope was more Ian Bell. I get the feeling that Brook is KP level while Jamie Smith can actually be Root level, in terms of their ceilings.

loads of batting left for England here. Root, Stokes, Smith, Woakes, Carse. Won't rule out Jof launching a few bombs too.

200 is a winning score, pitch is getting trickier now.
Looking at his white ball form, Jof has definitely underperformed with the bat in Tests, he came in and was considered almost an all-rounder

Actually is. World of difference between Eng hacking their way to a target and India having to chase. We don't want to be chasing many more than 200.

Yeah he has simply played the wrong shot. It’s why all this ‘respect for the game’ bollocks people talk about is just that, bollocks. Poor shot selection.
He has a bit of Maxwell syndrome IMO; he's so talented and has so many shots that he seems to feel he has to use them all, and forgets that he's good enough and powerful enough to just ****ing hammer the thing past the bowler with a straight bat for the same result as the way riskier shot.

I said it earlier, we’ll give it a bash today to try to set up a win, doesn’t mean we are disrespecting the game, we just want to win at the cost of possibly losing the game, nothing more
