I like how mentally level Jamie Smith seems to be as a batsman. He plays his shots but he also defends or works singles when its not in his hitting range or whatever. He seems to be far more mentally sorted than a Harry Brook even today. I dont know much about his keeping but hopefully he reaches his potential as a batsman, ideally after this series.

I remember back during covid when Crawley smashed that 200, I mentioned even before that game that Crawley seemed to have a higher ceiling than Pope. Crawley was more KP level in his ceiling while Pope was more Ian Bell. I get the feeling that Brook is KP level while Jamie Smith can actually be Root level, in terms of their ceilings.
