2nd Test (Edgbaston) - July 2nd

Whatever it takes!!!
Thinking rationally, I just get the feeling Gambhir probably does not get red ball cricket selection and coaching. Nothing wrong with keeping him on as the white ball coach while bringing in someone else for the red ball stuff.

I would still wait for the end of the series before making huge calls but this is not a good look/start for GG so far. :( His eternal obstinacy tallied to idiotic decision making, so far.

I think India were correct to leave out Bumrah here given they are managing his workload. I think he'll be much more effective at Lord's next up.

However, I can't fathom the other choices....

As for England, they've correctly gone with the same side. With any weather around bowling first could work in the favour.

I see they're wearing black armbands in memory of Wayne Larkins, a lovely nod to Ned.

I'm still not able to get my head around the fact that Kuldeep is not playing this test but I'll have to sit through Jadeja and Sundar

I hope this long batting lineup gets bowled out cheaply and then this joke bowling gets taken apart for 550 so that the dumb ****s come to realise how crazy their tactic was to strengthen the batting at the expense of an already weak bowling attack.

550 is very optimistic imo. I can't see anything lower than 700 tbh

This is some unfathomable stuff, you conceded 838 runs last test and managed to buy 15 wickets total, lost as they chased 371 fairly comfortably in the final inning even with your main ATG bowler. Now you lost that ATG bowler, you know the pitch would be flat and yet you strengthen the tail rather than your bowling? unfathomably shortsighted.

I would rather have had a batsman and a bowler instead of a 2nd and 3rd allrounder I think in just about every situation.

It doesn't matter *that* much though. The feeling of England being in charge here is more or less where they were the last time they lost a match in NZ.

Ithe best attack to take 20 wickets???

no

India have won one out their last nine. They need to take wickets.

Gambhir era selections have been atrocious.

I mean, they haven't dropped a bowler. The balance change is bringing in an allrounder for a batsman.

GG and co. are just hoping that quantity can make up for quality though, here. I dont mind NKR playing for Sai S but I would have definitely played Kuldeep for Shardul, than Washy. And even Arshdeep for Siraj, so the attack can actually be rounded for once.

Sky go is a complete joke mind.

Turned on late and the play hadn't even started yet cricinfo showed 4 balls had been delivered.

Someone else pays for my Sky so i've switched to my IPTV which is actually closer to the play

They need Kuldeep Yadav, there's no rationality to the decision to drop your second best bowler when you're missing your best one.
They haven't dropped Kuldeep because he wasn't in the team.

I don't particularly disagree with you, it's just very strange to frame him not being picked as being 'dropped' from a team that only existed in your mind.
