ODT reporting Dean Foxcroft is transferring to CD. Big loss.
Story is behind a paywall but the headline says it all.

I did some digging a little while back and the SS is quite top heavy IIRC which keeps a lid on scores - once you get through the top 5 there usually isn't much else. One of the things I love about SS is that it's not overly slanted toward the bats. Sure, the pitches are roads, but there's enough of a contest that overly large scores are still reasonably rare (1 or 2 a season). Apparently this is borne out in the stats - most seasons have average run rates in the region of 8rpo, where a lot of others are closer to 9rpo.
Can’t be doing much for his confidence going from league to league flopping. These days if you are to be considered a top flight cricketer it appears you have to foot slog through the T20 leagues even if it’s not really your go. And there’s the money of course. He’s not really a slogger though.Rachin slumping again over at MLC. The man just can't catch a break.
I know I've been saying for ages that he's not a T20 person, can't even get his average to 20 & shouldn't be in a T20I squad until he can, but I feel like a broken record for it. I think he's very lucky to be getting these franchise gigs, but hey, at least it's an opportunity to work on his game.
If that's going to become the norm, they're going to need to start playing a lot more internationals at Cobham Oval.Playing international cricket in NZ on 1 October is a little bit piss-taking. Especially against Australia.
It's the t20 world cupThere was a big fanfare on RNZ this morning about the Summer of cricket ahead. However, looking at the schedule it seems there's no international cricket between new year and March. So, the peak season doesn't have any locally player international cricket? Have I missed something? A 3-Test series against the Windies is good in that it's 3 Tests rather than the ugly 2-Test type.
T20WC, India tour starting mid-Jan (look on the bright side: after the no prep for the last one, they now have all the prep - on top of 3 ODIs & 5 T20s against India, there are also 3 T20s scheduled against Afghanistan). There was a big fanfare on RNZ this morning about the Summer of cricket ahead. Fanfare, we have 10 ****ing T20Is at home between October 1 (good luck with that) and November 10, followed by five more in India in January, 3 more in Afghanistan in February, potentially a couple more warm-ups in Sri Lanka before the World T20 that month as well, then another 3 in Bangladesh in April. There was a big fanfare on RNZ this morning about the Summer of cricket ahead. By my count, unless I am horribly wrong, that's 24 T20Is over the 'summer' period, with only 3 Tests and however many ODIs.
Looks like I'm a tennis fan this summer
