One of the things I love about SS is that it's not overly slanted toward the bats. Sure, the pitches are roads, but there's enough of a contest that overly large scores are still reasonably rare (1 or 2 a season). Apparently this is borne out in the stats - most seasons have average run rates in the region of 8rpo, where a lot of others are closer to 9rpo.

I did some digging a little while back and the SS is quite top heavy IIRC which keeps a lid on scores - once you get through the top 5 there usually isn't much else.

What happened to Ben Sears at Yorkshire? I posted an article where he was rearing to get stuck in for them. Looks like he played 2 matches....and is next sighted playing in the MLC T20 comp.
