BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2020

Hamilton wins this unless something dodgy found on his laptop.

Assume the only people who may have a chance against him would be Fury or Ronnie.

The bookies have Lewis, Fury, Broad, O’Sullivan as the top four favourites. I must admit 5th and 6th sent me to Google. Hollie Doyle and Johnathan Rea.

It'll be interesting to see which woman gets nominated (I assume the BBC can't really get away without nominating any women).

From memory, there hasn't been much in the way of athletics/swimming where there would probably be a few strong contenders in a more normal year, and obviously no Olympics for some other sports as well. I don't think there's really been much in the way of international women's cricket either?

Feels like you're pretty much left with Lizzie Deignan in cycling (who it should be), someone from football (which I don't know too much about) or one of the rugby players.

Anyone obvious I've missed?

Northern Ireland loves Rea, not impossible he nabs a top 3 slot.
He came pretty close in 2017 (after which they stopped releasing the results).

1st - Mo Farrah 15.32% of the vote
2nd - Jonathan Rea 14.78% of the vote
3rd - Jonnie Peacock 13.47% of the vote

Couldn't nominate Konta as she has won about 4 matches all year. No UK ladies won a major golf event either.

No british ladies done much of note in boxing although for banter they could nominate Taylor. Obviously nothing in MMA either although doubt the BBC know what that is.

I don't really follow ladies soccer so I suppose they could nominate someone from their if struggling for representation, but after that its really light.

Not only that, but for some reason his missing out on SPOTY nominations became a real sore spot. I reckon both of the people who actually care about SPOTY are Northern Irish. He'll pick up quite a few votes.

TBF being WC in Super Bikes is like being the best Championship footballer; impressive enough but there's a level above it.

GIMH

Norwood's on Fire
Obviously nothing in MMA either although doubt the BBC know what that is.
They show some now, what's it called, strike or something. The one that's not as good as UFC. But they stuck it on iplayer only

Hollie Doyle is indeed the token female and 4th candidate. Fury has to be one of the remaining two. So presumably O’Sullivan or Rea will be the other. Though after Jordan Henderson it could anybody.

My personal ranking would be:

Lewis Hamilton
Ronnie O'Sullivan
Stuart Broad
Tyson Fury
Hollie Doyle
Jordan Henderson

I think the actual order will be

Lewis Hamilton
Tyson Fury
Stuart Broad
Ronnie O'Sullivan
Jordan Henderson
Hollie Doyle

Fury has apparently tweeted that he’s going to withdraw and if he can’t he’s telling people not to vote for him.
It’s almost Trump like pre-voting excuses for when he doesn’t win. He’s only fought once all year and is boring out of the ring, so doesn’t deserve to win anyway.
