Some nice female NZ fans there. Special mention to the blonde one with glasses.

They made that chase far more difficult than it needed to be, but it's good to get past BD with a win as they've been a bogey team for NZ.

That win is as jammy as it gets. At least at Eden Park Starc produced a monster spell which most teams wouldn't have answers to.

Decent game from Bangladesh, made a decent fist of defending a below par score though it must be said helped by some daft batting.

that's not a jammy win at all, that's trying our very best to lose. if bangers won with 17 wickets caught going for a mow it would have been jammy.

Hollow victory for me, I'm angry tbh. Some of NZ's shot selections were abysmal, with only Taylor a little unlucky being strangled down the leg-side.

Stating the obvious I know, but what we'd give for a quality all-rounder to bat at 7 and be dependable for 10 overs.

Obviously can't have any South African blood in him haha. Just think he is worth more than the some of his parts, if that makes sense?
Well yeah, that was my smart arse point, until I thought of Elliott.

NZ players definitely have a type judging by the four blondes up there, lol.

Good **** from Bangladesh though. Almost gave me a heart attack.

Let’s bat Santner at 7

I'm slowly warming to that idea, even though it does make our batting thin.

So Sodhi in as the specialist 5th bowling option and Santner up to 7? That is a long tail.

It then becomes a shoot-out between Neesham (who's likely to be more dependable with bat) and Sir Colin (who's more dependable with the ball), but I guess if you've got 5 specialist bowlers anyway, Neesham becomes the obvious choice.

^ The other option is Nicholls at 6, to make the batting more solid since you don't need the 6th bowler, but then we'd really lack hitting power.

afghanistan next. while you wouldn't want to make the mistake of underestimating the opposition, especially that bowling attack, our reserves need game time. i don't want blundell in particular debuting in a semi final or something.

Sounds like we played terribly and still won, not the worst thing.

Still, as we’ve known from the start, if we don’t win the World Cup that middle order is almost certainly going to be the reason why. Unfortunately as Zinzan notes there are no easy solutions. Drop CdG and the bowling is weakened. Drop Neesh and we’re short on icing. Drop Nicholls and we’re missing cake. We’re badly missing a Harris/Styris/Elliot player who can offer us a bit of each.

Thank goodness for Santner, the only one in the middle/lower order with half a brain.

Also going by those figures from Henry, thank goodness Southee got injured and couldn’t claim his god given spot in the starting XI.
