I wonder how theyl go. 3 absolute boundary merchants in what I assume will be their top 6.

Gayle, Russell and Hetmyer are extreme examples of players who deal in boundaries. The first two seem to hate running nowadays and Hetmyer, while a bit more youthful and closer to an actual batsman is a more reckless cowboy than both of them with his shot selection.

Bravo and Hope some games are gonna have to carry the side to a respectable total and some games will get to sit back and put their feet up while the sixes rain down. I'm predicting both a sub 150 score and a 400+ score this tournament from the team.

Certainly an interesting looking Windies squad. Like the batting and pace options.

Pooran looks the biz in hitting spin after watching him last night. Just dealt in 6s.

Pooran is a huge talent. I just hope he gets some proper game-time to prove it. He's wasting away at the moment playing only T20 leagues.

My team based on that squad:

Gayle
Lewis
Hope (wk)
Hetmeyer
Pooran
Holder (c)
Russell
Allen/Braithwaite (depending on conditions)
Nurse
Cotterel
Thomas

Reserve Middle order bat = Bravo (just too slow for modern ODI's and bad at strike rotation)
Reserve pacers = Gabriel and Roach
Reserve pace all-rounder = Remember the name
Reserve spin all-rounder = Allen

I'm pretty pleased with it. I would have had Paul in for Carlos and Cornwall for Nurse. But by recent standards it's a decent squad.

Great power in the batting and lots of good pace bowling. Awful spin options though and I'm worried about strike rotation. Fingers crossed we are competitive.
I'm going all out and say that we might actually make the final with this team.

A few match winners, and on their days Roach and Holder (and Souljah Boy, Gabriel) can tear apart batting lineups.

I am hopeful.

Me too! At least far more hopeful than I expected to be 6 months ago!

The only optimistic fans here are the laid-back West Indians.
It's gonna be interesting with all the hitters in our team.

But sometimes good old test cricket makes an appearance in the ODI games, building of partnerships after a collapse.

In that department, we have Shai Hope and Darren Bravo. No one else. Unless Gayle starts to put pressure on the mid off fielder by going for a quick single!

? He'll only go for a quick single if it is to get off strike against a bowler he struggles against. Otherwise it's just not happening!

Or to get to a milestone.

In the Afghanistan game, Mujeeb will most definitely open the bowling. So he will have to hide from him.

Braithwaite is in for his bowling. From memory the last year or so his been pretty economical considering how high scoring a lot of games have been?
