Will probably be remembered as the most overblown affair in cricket 21st century cricketing history.

Honest question - if Smith and Bancroft had have come out and said that the tape got into his pocket by mistake and that when he found it he panicked because he didn't want to be seen as a cheat, do you think the reaction would have been better or worse?

What's worse is that Australia are going to use this heavy handed ban to continue to be sanctimonious and act as tho they are superior to rest of the world.

"Look we know where the line is and if one of our own crosses it we come down hard"

Can't win with these ****s
If they do give him a year ban though they'd have every right to be sanctimonious because they literally were more harsh than anyone else would be

Just saying

No one would buy that- worse imo

If you mean on this forum, maybe..., but I think there are enough out there who think otherwise.

I've thought that Lehmann passed his use-by date at least a year, and maybe two, ago. And I think you're right that it's the perception of his ways that has kept him in the role over this. Smith's weak captaincy and poor team guidance hasn't helped. His leadership group is clearly just his NSW teammates and Lehmann's allowing these cliques to form has been quite damaging.
This is a build up and a culmination of a team culture and of course this is the final straw that broke the camel's back. This is not only the ball tampering but the devestating effect of it as role models and financially cleary makes them feel the need to have to stand up and give significant bans.

But then CA and Sutherland can look at themselves for letting this team culture fester and as a result a winning all costs mentality lead to this. When Jim Maxwell actually feels the need to have to write to Sutherland after Durban Warner-Gate and voice his concerns about the team culture it is pretty easy to see CA had to do more sooner.

If Lehmann and Arthur had ***, they'd produce the perfect Australian cricket coach!
One whose idea of homework would be to make players write a thesis on the effects of 1100 grit yellow sandpaper on cricket ball behaviour through the air?

Even if they do give all them a thousand year ban, it still wouldn't make Australia anything other than the worst-behaved cricket team on this planet.
No one else is going to buy your pretense; so its best to be sensible and not go overboard with bans and the like.
If you want the world to look at you in a more favourable light than they do at present, improve your behaviour; cutting off your nose is not going to make you look any prettier.

The problem came in before the press conference... the minute they tried to cover it up. When the umpires came up to Bancroft (and Smith joined) it should have been pull at the yellow tape, apologise. Ball change 5 penalty runs. Sanctioned later and an apology. End off.... it was the attempt (between Lehmann, Smith and whoever else involved) to lie and try cover it up.... at that stage they looked really bad, and with the TV pictures anything but a full confession would have probably been worse.

Good old Huss. Pulled the pin because he couldn’t stomach touring with the Gen Y crew any more. Can’t say I blame him.

Behavioural wise? You're an incredible sycophant if you think Australia are the same as India or SA.
Get a grip

India were atrocious in the Oz series last year and cry racism whenever one of their players is called out which inevitably leads to them getting off without punishment

SA are serial ball tamperers and subject to a formal complaint this series. What's more, QDK was hardly a doe-eyed innocent in his altercation with Warner

I havent once tried to defend Oz over this incident or Warner ever but if you think we're an outlier, you're deluded

When has the Indian team cried racism in the last 10 years since Sydney? Sometimes your posts are so full of ****.
