I remember watching that spell on a big outdoor screen in Docklands Melbourne. Was glued to the screen, amazing viewing.

Nah mate....it's just wrong.

No way in the world was his 8/61 at Perth as good as his 7/40 at Roadelaide in 2013..........I was there and I say it is the best fast bowling that I have ever seen, ever.

You can't play fast bowling like Johnson produced in that spell vs SA or in that Ashes series. Not actually possible to, unless you're Viv Richards circa 1980 or Ricky Ponting circa early-mid 2000s.

He was like Ambrose used to get when he got a roll for a full series. Scary.

You can't attack. You can survive if you are content with not scoring or taking a few blows.

back on topic, Mitchell Johnsons fiery spell against SA back in 08 or whatever where he took 7 wickets in the last session of the day. Never again came close to that level of bowling
Actually a fair call if you're referring to a pre-2012 Mitchell Johnson, where a huge amount of his bowling was average or rubbish and spells like that weren't that common.

Saying he "never again came close" though is a bit off

He was better at Centurion tbh. Most brutal spell of bowling I've ever seen. That ball to Faf was pure pace bowling porn.

The one true AB handled Johnson brilliantly when every other batsman in the world looked like a club cricketer against him.

Yep I distinctly remember one bouncer where he calmly moved across the crease, went up on his toes and tapped the ball down. He diffused a 145k+ ball like it was bowled at 125.
