*Official* New Zealand in England 2015

Ronchi's older than McCullum anyway. If we're talking about the side in a post-McCullum, post-Elliott world and looking towards the next WC, I doubt Ronchi will be around.
I agree to a point. 38 is not incredible for a ODI specialist without McCullum's injuries. But his hand eye is a concern.

That said, I based my selection on no McCullum, no Ronchi and no Elliot.

13 of your 15 man 2019 World Cup squad. Take it to the bank.

Not sold on Latham. Seriously not sold on Latham opening with Guptill. Selectors will want someone to take advantage of initial powerplay overs. Is Latham going to go Greatbatch? He might do in the future - but I do not see it at the moment.

He's not going to do a Greatbatch because he's a quality batsman. He's going to do a Williamson.
Its called the powerplay overs for a reason. I don't want Guptil losing his wicket being forced to play the power role knowing what he can do throughout an innings.

Its moments like these you really appreciate the dynamism of Jesse Ryder.

Guptill plays best when he's playing the power role. I don't want him pretending to be a real batsman.

I disagree. His World Cup and tour(s) of England demonstrate that you are not correct.

I agree in tests he is better when striking the ball. But his current way of playing ODI cricket is working quite nicely. He cannot carry Latham, as is.

And saying that Latham is going to do a Williamson. Not many players in the world can do a Williamson. He is scoring deceptively swfit these days.

This is like a parallel universe Blocky post.
From generation to generation, we pass along the lore about the distortions in the world borne by the ban mechanism, and about the existence of another world, which we have long observed to be just like this one and yet not the same.

That's right -- a CW region that's almost exactly like this one we live in. Filled with cricketers and forumers like us. A world where maybe the evolution of Blocky took a slightly different path, where Guptill's ability is unknown... a world where that unwavering stance two years ago never happened. A world where the infraction system was never even created. And in that CW of that world... what would happen if one day, out of the blue, a troll appeared? What would happen to the forumers of that world, without the infraction system to destroy the troll or the power to warp it away?

Looks like it's beyond the power of your imagination.

Yeah there's this kid Phillips coming through for this, if Hesson (or Bradburn) are going to be looking for McCullum's replacement on the less conservative side of town. He's not offering Hesson shots off both feet like Ronchi did in 2013 or Devcich did, but his good foot is the back foot.

I don't quite understand what you're trying to get at there, but whatever. Not sure I've ever tried to pass myself off as actually being a New Zealander tbf.

If BMac has retired from ODIs (his worst form of the game anyway) like to see this side:

Latham or Watling (wk) -sorry Ronchi but I want us to play the 3 young all-rounders from 6-8
Guptill
KW (capt)
Taylor
Elliot (2 more years)
Anderson
Santner
Neesham
Wheeler
Henry
Milne

(Don't want Southee and Boult getting injured but will obviously still play a few odis). When Elliot retires move everyone up one and pick another bowler.

I fear for that side chasing 350+, need more power I think. Is their any other cricketers in the NZ domestic scene who could go hard at the top?

It sounds like NZ is your team. Not Australia. Thats all. Could be me misinterpreting.
Yeah, they are. Far prefer NZ on an individual player level compared to Australia.

In that post there, the 'we' was meant to refer to cricket fans as a whole, ftr (not that it actually matters, but hey, we're discussing it). I think not wanting Captain Anton is a universal desire.

Looking at those ODI Line ups being posted I will follow up with my source about munro's desire to be a keeper.
It is starting to look more and more like his best path into the team.
Last I heard about it was 18 months ago so I presume it fizzled out or was a non starter. Will follow up.

Latham inside the first 10 will have a higher strike rate than most batsmen in the NZ side. Not due to Greatbatching it. Due to the fact that he can hit gaps and has shots around the wicket.
