You guys should try Stumped.
Unless it has FC, then I cbf changing now. It's the one thing missing from FTP. I reckon they should double the length of the season, halve the training speed and make each week a fortnight with the T20/Youth FC/Main OD one week and Youth OD/Main FC the 2nd week. Too big a change for a game which really doesn't have any development in it anymore.

I dunno, if they do FC they'd better keep it simple. I found FC in Battrick really annoying and lame. Funny how my patience ran out with that but with FTP I can't seem to completely lose interest.

I have decided to concentrate on academies now (both senior and youth)...won't buy any seniors for some time...I have a detailed long-term plan.

Let's see how it goes. This season, I'm expecting a high-table performance from seniors in division 2, if not promotion...and I'm expecting promotion from youths.

Na, I tried that. It has some decent features but the match engine is pathetic to say the lest. It's created by rob1et from FTP. He has basically copied some FTP features and added some new concepts on top of that...But he couldn't copy the FTP match engine :p

ummm wtf?

Literally everyone who has played all 3 games says Stumped's engine, and general game design, is the best one by faaaar.

Just because it isn't predictable and routine doesn't mean it's bad. It's actually very, very good and very, very in depth.

I agree about the game design being better than others (mainly because it's FTP+much more), but the match engine was pathetic last time I played, unless it has changed significantly over the last 6-9 months (and I am knowlegeable on these things).

My stumped team went bot, but I can create a new one when more people tell me that the match engine has significantly improved. The features are nice, the game is more complicated than FTP. I like that. But I'm not impressed by ME.

Just a small example - Rob1et has accepted that there's no feature of strike farming in the ME. That is so wrong, and unreal. And there are many such problems...

Several times. A new edition was just released before this season as well. Every season their are small tweaks and balances made to it.

He looked hard in the dictionary to find descriptors not used by Battrick or FTP (and then still used two).

FFS just use the best words available; they don't have copyright on words like excellent or reliable ffs.

edit: ffs.

Actually he was looking the descriptors to be alphabetical...20/20 starts with A, 19/20 with B, 18/20 with C, and so on.

And anyways the game gives you the option of using numbers instead of words and like 90% of the userbase chooses to do that instead.

Maybe it's because I've just signed up, but it's terribly confusing, which would be fine if the user interface wasn't god awful.

That's a really harsh thing to say and good on him/them for staring up an alternative and offering something with a difference but seriously, could do with some design.

Yea I agree, layout is blerugh.

Not that FTP is great. BT really nailed it; every game after has left quite a bit to be desired.

As it is tho, the Devs are working on improving the game. Stuff like advanced orders and commentary - here the lines actually attempt to describe what happened - good/bad ball, attacking/defensive shot, did the batsman middle it or not, did he find the gap, how did the fielder do. It's pretty good but could be clearer.

They also ran a WC recently and may be bringing in an International structure to the game soon. And they're working on a mobile app.

I really like FTP. Some might say it's too simplistic but I think it's balanced it right. However that match engine probably isn't up to that of BT (haven't played BT in ages though). I've found FTP has the best UI, and I really like it's trainign setup in that you train everyone (I know not everyone like this and prefers BT's setup). But it'd be cool if they made it like this stumped game or BT where you could hire specialist coaches additional to the training academy so select players could get a training boost rather than have to try and upgrade an academy and all that guff.

FTP and BT were both too formulaic. I didn't like it. You produce the same types of players, set a training system, get youth players with the same skill levels every couple of seasons and train them up till they match the skills of the players they replace...didn't feel exciting or challenging. There was an optimal team balance, optimal trainee beginning skill levels, optimum academy investment levels, optimum training plan, predictable pop schedule. Even the engines were too predictable - FTP a bit more exciting and realistic than BT sure, but still fairly predictable.

Stumped is more exciting. Player potentials, coach skill levels, wider range of pitches and conditions, setting fields, and the way the outcome of each ball is calculated is more in depth and gives more room for luck and randomness. It's more realistic.

FTP is the right level of commitment, though, whereas this looks really in depth. Which is great, but I haven't the desire to sink that much time into it. I think I'd enjoy a game of ICC now and again moreso than trying to keep up with it.

It looks great, despite my earlier rants. Just not for me I guess :)
