Boult has been good again IMO, with the same lack of reward we come to expect. Wagner has been **** and yes Cook gifted his wicket again.

Southee has been average. Hasn't kept a consistent line and length. His off-cutter has looked dangerous at times but he hasn't hit the same area with the stock ball that it would really put doubt into the batsman's mind.

Can't see Bruce Martin doing anything here either.

Why can't we just do this, every time, every place:
bowl in bowling conditions, bat in batting conditions

The only minor exception might be if it's our first test in a long time.

Am I missing something here?

I'm too busy raging about the ****ing shambles of a ticketing system at the ground to even bother with McCullum's ****ty decision making.
Hope you didn't do something nefarious like print out your ticket in low quality so the barcode doesn't scan

Yes. Let's call it the McCullum factor. It's where you decide what you're going to do before you've arrived at the ground, and not consider changing your mind because that would be a sign of weakness. Or something.

It's going to be a long day.

Radio comms were saying Boult has been disappointing as has been too short
Yeah I think he was slightly too short, and also suffered a bit from the same problem he's had recently - going searching a bit and losing consistency as a result.

Just got home. Why the **** are we bowling?
In the hope that it will either:

1. make the test run longer (if the BC's batted first they could be rolled within a day)
2. on the slim chance there is some juice in the wicket and they can get 3 before lunch.

Still feeling the sting of criticism from batting first in South Africa imo.

Also think Southee should do a Finn and look to shorten his run up by 5-10 paces. To me, he seems to lose alot of momentum and speed approaching the crease.

Have a feeling this may be why he falls away to the left slightly.

Anyone else see alot of Vettori in Martin's bowling? Talking more about his action rather than his style of bowling.
Similarities in the bowling too - flighty straight-breaks.

Tbf Martin probably does turn it at least a little more than Vettori.

Could've been a touch fuller.

Should've picked Jeets over Wagner and batted on this pitch IMO
Bruce Martin is bowling nicely.

Would actually be dangerous in the 4th innings.
Oh come on, Bartin and Patel in the same side in New Zealand . Wouldn't bowl us to a win in a million years.

Anyway, it's going to rain towards the end of this match which must further reduce the already miniscule chances of the pitch breaking up to help the spinners.
