So MS Dhoni is playing out his quota of one good knock per tour.

Haven't seen a single ball of the match. Job sucks :(

What on earth is going on here? This is what Broad used to do - and he's not even on!
Almost a exact copy of what happened last match with india Broad and Swann.

Dhoni smacked a couple of over pitched balls and they bowlers begun to dig it in short.

If we can get to 270 or so we would have done well from where we were.
If Praveen was still there might have been possible.... Broad will clean up the tail after tea break... he is in awesome bowling form and he is very good at cleaning the tail as well.

hopefully after this innings Dhoni will finally realize cowlasher Dhoni>>>Trying to be a proper batsman Dhoni
True.

The problem though is that if he gets out playing one of these shots early on in such a situation the knives are out for him and people are calling him useless, unable to bat responsibly as captain etc....

He is best when he counters and walks all around the wicket playing odd shots and confusing the bowlers too.

Indeed - but it was just such poor discipline for a unit renowned for it.

Utterly mindless bowling and immensely frustrating all round.

Tail end batting - the biggest love/hate relationship in cricket.

I suppose 270 is a bit of a stretch but given the way the pitch is and the way Dhoni is batting we should look to get another 40-50 runs at least. Dhoni isn't gonna go down wondering, that's for sure.

yeah, 270 would be a decent score. Though this pitch probably doesn't have as much as Trent Bridge it will get slightly quicker once it dries.

But Praveen decided to pull one at the wrong time.

Hmmm, 270 is not realistic in the first place and not enough either. India are in a deep hole!

There are only three players in this Indian side who played in the IPL, and then missed the subsequent Test and ODI tour of the Caribbean, and they all failed to pass 40.

Sehwag was out for a duck, Sachin made one, and Gambhir struggled to reach 38.

I am a happy man!
Justice has been served. No mercy for players who value the IPL over Test and ODI cricket....

As well as they've come back/oddly poor England have been for a while, the simple fact is India have no business being 8/211 on this pitch. It looks very friendly, tbh.

Um I know they're trying to keep the tail ender on strike and all but surely you have to attack Dhoni a little too?
