It is something of a wonder that this is Tahir's first ODI.
Nah, DWTA.

He's only been available for one series before this, and it was in South Africa. Adding to that, this is what they've had to do to squeeze him in:

  • Play five frontline bowlers even though there are three batsmen in the team who are more than capable bowlers.
  • Play three specialist spinners.
  • Open the bowling with Johan Botha.
  • Leave out a bowler with 36 ODI wickets at an average of 19 and an economy rate of 4.5.

So in other words, he doesn't suit the team balance, he doesn't suit his nation's home conditions and he's only been available for five seconds.

The wonder is that he's actually managed to get a game at all. He's a good bowler but he's not worth moving heaven and earth to play IMO.

Was more referring to the fact that SA have been "hiding" him, the whole immigration thingo, and the fact that it's almost been a week into the WC before SA actually play a game.

Schoolboy running.

Hopefully Shiv is pissed off at himself and takes it out on the bowlers. There's nothing better than Chanderpaul randomly going bonkers.

Why not send Pollard in?

Dam just thinking SA are so lucky that we got Gayle early and Both Bravos before they could do even more damage.270 might be tricky looking at this wicket
@Pews dont watch Chuck.Think S3 ended last week here on SABC.The ep where a wedding occurs

Yeah, he better. Such a weird character. Scores a Test century off 68 or whatever against Australia yet scores ****-all off 40 odd in an ODI. That six is a good sign though.

Compared to Hambantota this ground is tiny. 6s flying left n right.
Edit 2nd warning for IT

I certainly think Pollard should have come in at the fall of Dwayne Bravo's wicket. Having said that, though, I'm not really familiar with Devon Thomas. This is the first time I've ever seen him play.

That was a good shot.

Pollard batting #8 is a bit thick, IMO.

Not the best knock from Chanders. Scored at 60 and lost an extra wicket.

WI batsmen giving their wickets away. Still hoping these two make it out of this group in positions 1 and 2. 260 will be tricky to chase

Dunno, Pollard just doesn't convince me for some reason, whether it's the WI using him stupidly I don't know, but his record in international cricket is appaling.
Can't use that as an excuse to hide him though. He's a power hitter, play him properly or don't play him at all.
Anil: "WI have played 142 dot balls in 41 overs ie 246 almost half the balls they have faced are dot balls, i m afraid too many dot balls"

Definitely AWTA, a guy who does so much damage on such a regular basis in domestic T20 must surely fire sooner or later.

Guy averages 37 in FC cricket, I certainly wouldn't be hiding him at 8.
