This. Don't like Swann. Suspect he doesn't tub like many other Poms. And he's a smart arse numpty who looks like Roger Ramjet.

Pillock really.

Marcuss I appreciate the invite to the FB group but respectfully decline. If he takes wickets vs India I'll join though, and FTR I hope he does..

Must have been Corrin, I don't have you as a friend so can't invite you.

As for the first half of the post, jealousy IMHO. :p

Interesting the numbers are so low... some pretty average ratings getting themselves into high rankings under the Ian Bell principle (no one else is any better).

Here is the top ten on the first day of 2010... alongside a number in brackets to show where they would have ranked on January 1, 2006.

1 823 D.W. Steyn (4th)
2 809 M.G. Johnson (4th)
3 756 G.P. Swann (11th)
4 752 M. Muralidaran (12th)
5 720 Mohammad Asif (13th)
6 712 Harbhajan Singh (14th - coincidentally Harbhajan himself was 14th in '06 with 708 points)
7 697 S.C.J. Broad (15th)
8 685 M. Ntini (16th)
9 682 S.R. Clark (16th)
10 676 S.E. Bond (17th)

That list, for reference:

1 867 S.K. Warne
2 860 G.D. McGrath
3 844 M. Muralidaran
4 798 Shoaib Akhtar
5 786 M. Ntini
6 785 A. Kumble
7 782 S.M. Pollock
8 781 A. Flintoff
9 775 W.P.U.J.C. Vaas
10 759 A. Nel

Oh 2006, it was a golden age for bowling. If the batsman from 2006 played now they would all average about 75 against these plodders!

If Johnson's the world's 2nd best bowler then Test cricket really is dying. Capable of brilliance but so bad when he gets it wrong (ie between June and August 2009).

Don't give a **** tbh. Graeme Swann is the best bowler in the world.
Reasoning : Johnson is a crim and Steyn is **** against Engalnd. /joke (perhaps )
Add in the fact Swanneh is the best bloke eva.

The Duh smiley went out of action in about mid-2004 - ie a couple of years before you joined.

Anyway Swann is a pretty damn good fingerspinner but not I don't think vastly above every other spinner to play for England since covered wickets and not even notably better than some. Good to have him performing well however, and long may it continue.

Big fan (he said climbing aboard the bandwagon ). Love English players who have a bit of a swagger (it's a very small list, in all honesty) and, better yet, perform to back it up. Ravi, take note.

What I will say is that he gets an awful lot of "proper" wickets; i.e. close catches, LBWs and clean bowleds. Very few of his scalps seem to be tailenders on the mow.

didn't know there ever was an actual Duh smiley. Beyond the ones that I use a lot, I just tend to type out smileys for whatever emotional flavour I'm trying to convey, regardless of whether they exist or not.

I know - so do I. :p I tend to say <insert stuck-up smiley> or whatever, but the effect is the same. I just thought it was amusing that you actually used something that did used to be a vBulletin smiley. In case you're interested, it looked like a cross between the :D and the

Shame on you for not knowing the history of CW smilies pre-2006 tbh.

It's definitely a good point about the umpires being more willing to give LBW's to spinners, probably something that's come due to the invention of Hawkeye, as we've now got a clearer understanding of what deliveries are likely to hit the stumps. Swanny certainly wouldn't have picked up anywhere near as many wickets if it wasn't for that change in the game.
