**Official** Pakistan in New Zealand (3 tests)

Haha if he did score exactly 214 I'd love the bloke forevermore.
He's the sort of player that would be right up your alley actualy (bar the whole Sinclair domestic bully thing :p). Technically correct opening batsman. You would have loved him even more a few years ago when he was reasonably defensive. In the last year or two he's started rotating the strike though.

Hope Southee plays.

Support Dan up to six ftr. Yes our batting line up is shorter but the top six should score the runs and we've had our tail in the top three for far too long. Guptill at three if he's not out there in the first hour will really suit him imo. Flynn at five is protected from swing bowling so he'll go back to scoring 49 before he's hopefuly given the boot upon Ryder's return (though if he scores a century in what sound like bowler friendly conditions then fair play).

**** having all the batting done in 4-8, for once this lot can score some runs and if they don't, bye bye McIntosh and Flynn (who is down at five now but still :p).

Guptill only retained because he has more class in his amputated toe than the other two combined.

Anyway, go NZ. Tuffey. Tuffey.

Tuffey.

Love this description of the NZ top order from Osman Samiuddin on Cricinfo:

Osman Samiuddin said:
New Zealand's top order has come to resemble the best boy-bands; built around the talents of one man, Ross Taylor, the purpose of the others seems unclear, other than just hanging around making him look even better.
What a great analogy!

The 'great news' is that Vettori will bat at 6 with either Patel or Southee at 8. God help us all. Could see a new rock bottom for NZ batting in this test.

Our tail will consist of 2 number 10s, a number 11 and someone who you wouldn't voluntarily let near your batting line up in a month of Sundays.

This with a top order of also-rans.

Wish this test would hurry up and start...

Anyway I put together a chart with which to measure Watling's success for tomorrow, what with it being his debut and all.

Runs scored, first innings:

0-10: Useless!!! Na, ****ing not good enough, chuck 'em on the discard pile with his mate Fulton. Give some young guys a chance... get Brodie in there! Any good under seventeens at the moment? Under fifteens? Good experience! Watling? Past it.

10-30: Better than you McIntosh! For shame... for shame.

31-49: I told you... I told you he was good! This young man. Future star.

50-99: Martin Crowe. Probably better actually.

100: Saviour! Bow down to the saviour of New Zealand cricket! The answer to all of our prayers. The best opener since John Wright. Love 'em already. Whaaaadddaaaaplaaayyyaaaaaa!

150: Better than Bradman. Easily.

200: Na..... who does that on debut... come on be realistic.

214: THE NEXT...... Matthew Sinclair
yes good post straw. this is exactly how fickle the nz fans here are..

Interesting that Elliott has been dropped, and for Pakistan Shoaib Malik is out, Faisal Iqbal takes his place.

So they are saying there wasn't anyone who could fill his spot and that he wasn't good enough as a batsman or bowler so was replaced by two players.

He's gotta be feeling crap.

Pretty much agree - it will be either a spectacular success or spectacular failure.

Surely Southee can't bat 8 though - it should be Tuffey.

On the positive side we have one fewer 'also-ran' in the top 6... 8-)

Farhat what a low life lol.. he is taking 30 mins changing his pads.. I don't think he will make that many runs anyways..

i have no idea what pakistan is doing here. are they thinking about future? clearly fawad alam is the future of the pakistani team.. they should have give him ago instead of faisal iqbal..
