Batting keeping wise not much can be loss

but i think just his presence to the team..not to mention Pontings deputy and how he heavily relies on him in the field... will effect us :(

And, according to Channel 9, he's pulled the pin. On test cricket, at least. What a career, Gilly.
Gone for good.

Now if he doesn't replace Ian Healy in the box, then there will be hell to play. Perm has gone into a state of mourning AWS.

This gets worse by the moment. At least he could have played the One Day series out. Good thing is that he won't be playing for WA.

Pretty sure he would spend a couple years with his family before going into something like commentary. Always thought it was stupid players say they want to spend more time with their family and then start commentating as soon as they retire. You would be away from your family for most of the year as commentator.

He is playing the ODI series mate.
Just read a headline saying he will be retiring from all forms. Didn't read the article that closely at first and the line about him playing the CB series. Though one would expect Haddin to play a large number of matches so it wont matter. Still mean were ****ed.

No offence, chaminda, but how in God's name was I supposed to provide a link to an on-air conversation between Channel 9 commentators?
Took two minutes to get on the web so it wouldn't have been too hard. Just wanted proof it wasn't hear say.

OMG! I had no idea. This is so sudden. I think it’s time though. It’s just a shame it had to come after all that speculation on his spot. Well, this is huge. And I’m sadder than I thought I would be. He needs a huge send off at the Adelaide Oval because he has brought a lot of joy to this great game. Well played Gilly, I think there should be a separate tribute thread. If any player deserves that, it’s Gilly.

But my source was an on-air conversation - and I had no idea whether the news was online or not, seeing as it appeared to be "instant" from the Channel 9 commentators. Why would I make something like that up?

And if the link was so easy to find, you wouldn't have had any problems finding it yourself.

Mate, Gilly will be having a farewell series in the CB Series. He won't be missing a few matches here and there just to give Haddin a go.
